Hi!

The next thing on my list is a mitersaw.

I wouldent wanna spend too much on "hobby gear", so the kapex is kinda out of question (1200? here).

I've been looking at the Bosch GCM 10SD and the makita 1013. DeWalts havent really convinced me in the shop.

I could get the bosch 10sd for 650? and thats half of the price of the kapex around here in the arctic circle.

Any oppinions on the bosch or some other miterssaws in the bosch's pricerange?

Any replies much appreciated!

I have the big Bosch SCMS. Forget the model # 4312, 4612 something like that. Great saw, works and cuts precise. Levers are good size so they don't smash my fingers. The bad part, the thing weighs a ton and is a beast to move. For stationary work, I'd highly recommend it. For moving jobsite to jobsite, forget it. I also have an old Makita so I can't really compare it to the new ones. A lot of guys rave about that new 1013 so you should probably check it out. Kapex just too much dough for a chopsaw.
For me, a chopsaw is all about user-friendly. Go to the store, play with the unit. How do your hands feel on the controls, can you re-position easily, does it lock into place well. Will I like using this saw?
Good luck.

Have you looked at the Hitachi?

Yeh I have but im looking for a midrange model with a 10" blade and I havent found a hitachi with a 10" blade here. Only with 8" and 12" blades...

The 10" blade gives me enough capacity.

Dunno if this is available where you are...
I have the Bosch 4410L SCMS and absolutely recommend it.  Easy to use and accurate up front controls.  Excellent build quality.  Excellent cut quality (still using the stock 60T blade after 2years).
Still going for sub-$500(USD) on occasion.  I have it mounted to a Ridgid MSUV, which I would also recommend.

The only two drawbacks, compared to the Kapex are:  Kapex has the rack-and-pinion bevel adjusting and superior dust capture (according to reports).

check out the bosch glide.... very nice...i got to try it and i am getting it. i was going to get the kepex but it breaks my heart to say it is going to be the glide.

The bosch 4410 is the same machine as GCM 10SD. But they dont sell the laser equipped version here in Finland or in Europe for all I know...
The Same bosch scms that you have Wood_Junkie, without the laser costs 650? here and thats the bargained price. That would be around 850$ with the current rates... Damn you got cheaper powertools :D

I have a Hitachi mitre saw. Solidly built, weighs a ton, loud, powerful, terrible dust extraction, accurate, paid about $400, laser works well and is easy to calibrate. I never needed much from it and therefore am perfectly satisfied. It does the job it was made for and it does it well.

I can't compare it to a Kapex because it is apples and oranges.

I've got to give a vote for the Makita LS1013L. I've owned this one for about 4 months now and this guy is great. Simple, easy, powerful. The laser is great once calibrated. The only down side is its dust extraction. Not too great :/ Otherwise great SCMS if you can still find it. I looked on their website and they are now discontinued.

I am still happy with my Milwaukee. The digital miter scale is still perfect to .1 of a degree.. The machine has never broken down yet. The motor it has is strong, but makes a weird sound like the TS 75 that makes it seem broken or cheap? It does take a bit of messing with a custom boot for the dust collection, but once you do the dust collection is great. I guess they finally make a fitting for it so I just ordered one. I like the saw and am very happy with it:

I only paid 499.99 for the slider on sale and you just can not beat that.
