I've added a mitre sled to the TKS 80 sliding rail.

This was done with the help of two additional parts:

Festool Crown stop AB-KS 120 (2 units)
Large 'nuts' that fit within the channel in the Crown Stop

I could have used an M8 square nut but wanted to reduce as much play as possible.

The result works well!

I will add a fixed board to the other side of the blade as a temporary fix until a construct a 'full sled that covers both sides of the saw blade.

The sled can easily be removed and attached by sliding onto the sled and tightening the stops.

Reach out with any questions.

-Philip

Thanks for the attempt. Do you think there is any way to do it without using over priced festool parts. ? I must admit I am far from happy with the TKS 80. Wish I had just bought the saw stop instead. Now I am stuck with the lacking TKS 80.

This was quite a good idea. Well done!

Easty - These are not too overpriced, although not cheap.
Being useful for attaching jigs to any Festool table or saw.

I wish Festool did something similar - made attachments to the V-groove and/or in combinations  with the MTF/3 profile’s T-track below - just for making/attaching jigs, in-feed/out-feed tables, table extensions and so on.

The V-profile in combination with the t-track below on the MFT makes for a strong connection aligning perfect each time.

Maybe an idea for [member=59331]TSO Products[/member] ? (Should be at least a couple of meters of V-profile out there  [big grin])
- Hoping to pick up your new “Paulk” dog connectors at Hammerstroke soon - if their getting some?
These do also add interesting possibilities to the MFT or Paulk bench or…

Indeed.  To wit, I purchased one to attach featherboards to my CMS Router table.

Hi,

What is not working for you on the TKS80?

Mine seems to be working well!

Thanks,

-Philip

TSO reply:
thank you for your interest in our Connect Dogs. I'm not sure they have been available through our dealer network but ask Hammerslaget to see if they get them for you on a special order added to their next stock order.

Good idea, very clever. Just wondering about aligning the sled if you're removing it regularly. Does just the sled come off or do you have to remove the Crown Stops as well with the sled to keep it aligned?

Also, curious as to the benefit of this sled set-up compared to just using the protractor that comes with the saw on the sliding table. Is there some deflection when using the festool protractor (or mitre gauge, not sure what it's called) that you felt the need for something more stable?

Thanks,
Kevin

I've only just got a TKS80 and want to set up a sled to make kumiko strips.

What is the advantage of using the Crown Stops over fixing a sled to the Profile setting rail?  I suspect there might be a simple answer...

Cheers
