Mobile Dust Extraction / Clean Up

I am remodeling a few rooms in our house. Just completed the office and currently remodeling a bathroom.  Several times I have needed to do some smaller clean up jobs. Each time I went to our shop and brought in a CT. This requires me to either disconnect my Midi from under my Kapex, disconnect the cord and weave it through the opening or take the Worker Center off my CT 36.  Given I have several more projects I started looking in a CTC SYS. It seems based on my research that this cordless CT only runs for 15ish minutes on two 4.0 batteries. I would need to buy the set because my only cordless Festool our sanders and the OSC 18 and thus don’t have any of the bigger batteries. With that runtime and a price of nearly $1000 I decided to look at Milwaukee since I have a few M18 tools.  The price is much better but from what I have read the suction is really bad for anything but the smallest jobs. If the CTC SYS was a hybrid with batteries and a power cord I would buy it. But alas it is battery only and I could not find one of the older corded models.

Any suggested for model dust extraction / clean up? Maybe I will just buy a cheap shop vac and leave it in the room I am working on and hope Festool makes a CTC SYS hybrid with a power cord in addition to batteries.

CT15?

With a simple shop-made hack, you can even use it with a blue-tooth like feature.

I'm with Chuck on this one. The CT15 is a great alternative. That's what I use as a secondary unit, for essentially the same reason. I didn't like having to move the CT26 from its spot.
The suction is the same as the bigger models and it is light and easy to move around.

I vote for finding a corded CT SYS somewhere. I wouldn't trade mine out. Especially not for some stupid battery version.
Yes I am somewhat anti battery.
Short of finding a corded version, go with a CT15, corded of course.
I wouldn't buy a big box store shop vac version. Big, way too loud, annoying.

Thanks for the input.  Seems the consensus is to go with a corded version vs battery.  I figured that would be the case.  And as has been mentioned something quiet.  I will definitely continue looking for a corded CT SYS since the form factor is great.  If not maybe a CT15 or a cheap / quiet vac like Michael pointed out.

Thanks again!

Corded MINI...corded MIDI...Corded CT 15...they're all a charm. If you were local I'd happily sell you an extra corded MIDI I have. Keep looking, they're out there.  [smile]

These CTC vac offerings are pretty niche as far as I'm concerned. Vacuum for 15 minutes and then wait for 30 minutes to recharge the batteries...there's something wrong with that thought process.

If you are considering CT SYS, why not get just a normal house vacuum from a reputable brand. It will have equally tiny capacity and twice the suction. It won't stack onto systainers, but will roll conveniently around the house and have wands and better cleaning attachments made for actual cleaning.

Hey [member=28223]SoonerFan[/member] there's a CT 15 coming up on Festool Recon for $335.  [smile]
