As it appears that Seneca is not going to make a Domiplate version for the DF700, I decided to see whether it would be easy to make a modification to my regular Domiplate. (I do have the Domishims but wanted to have another option.) The issue with using the DF500 Domiplate with the XL is that the fence offset is 15mm for the DF700 vs 10mm for the DF500.
I found the following aluminum plate that appears to be almost a perfect fit for use as a shim. It is 4" x 3", about the same dimensions as the Domiplate's bearing surface to the work piece, and more importantly, it is about 4.8mm thick:

My preference would be not to glue the shim to the Domiplate, but rather tap some holes to make it removable. I've never tapped anything before...what's the easiest way to drill taps by hand? What bits or kits would you recommend (I wouldn't mind buying a small set for projects down the road.)
Thanks,
Brian
