Did anyone read the latest issue of FWWing magazine? The issue with the gorgeous boxes on the cover. On page 74 is shown Michael Fortune's Mortising Jig.

What would be a source for the interesting hold-down clamps shown there? It isn't Rockler, 'cause I checked.

Gary,

You might try searching for pivot clamps  that's what they are called in metal working.

Actually, they are usually called "toggle clamps" and come in a array of sizes and shapes. DeStaCo is a brand. Search MSC and McMaster-Carr for lots of them.

Hope this helps, Larry

You may want to PM Per.  I think I saw a photo that he recently sent me that had something similar.

Maybe we're talking about two different things. I thought toggle clamps had a handle.

The jig I saw used pivot type setup clamps.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong jig or different companies call them different things.

Scott, you're right - I've gotta read the question more closely, or even better, pick up the right magazine to look at. The names used for these clamps indeed do vary. Try searching MSC, MacMaster-Carr and google for "hold-down clamps". They come in what you pictured (up to many pounds of iron) to a plastic one from Jorgensen for workbenches with 3/4" holes.

Hopefully a better response...
Larry
