Has anyone ever tried to mount this Festool router to a Kreg Insert plate?  The router has 5 M4 screws that mount the fibreglass bottom plate to the underside of the router.  It aslo has two M6 threaded holes in the base.  Can these M4 or  M6 threaded holes be used to mount a Kreg insert plate to put into a standard third party router table?  The M4 screws seem quite small to support the weight of the router.
Thanks.

Here is what i ended up doing.  I used two of the M4 holes and one of the M6 holes to locate/position the router on the Kreg Insert Plate, then used a couple of clamps to securely hold the router to the plate.

I love my OF1400, but I just don't see the point of using one in a router table? There is no winding mechanism for the bit height, so you would constantly be fighting against the spring as well as gravity.
The major benefit of the OF is dust collection and at least some of that will be given away in a table and at the same time losing the versatility of the machine for hand-held use.
For me, the best router out there for table mounting is the 3hp Triton. The spring is easily removable and there are several ways to adjust the bit height precisely (mechanically)

My Festool router is one of the most expensive tools I have ever bought.  I think I can work around the difficulties mentioned above without having to make another investment I can ill afford in another router to use solely in a router table.  The Festool CMS Router table is also simply far too expensive.  It is as simple as that.

For many years I had only one router, the Porter Cable 690.  At some point I added a used PC Trim Routers; today I have 7 routers.

I have found there is no one router that will do it all.  For me the PC690 is about as close as it comes to a general purpose, do it all, router.  When that was my only router I used it freehand or in a rudimentary router table built into my Table Saw Extension Table.

I now have a Jet Router Table with a cast iron top equipped with the Triton router.  That set up has changed my workflow dramatically!  The power and precision is excellent.

I am now of the opinion that one needs at least two routers:  a handheld plunge router like the OF1400 and a dedicated router table set up.  A small trim router is a nice to have addition.
