moving to South America from US

Hello, I'm new here. I would like to bring tools with me to South America who runs on 220V @ 50 hz. I am in the US which runs on 110V @60 Hz. Can anyone tell me if there would be any problems using a step down transformer to go from 220 to 110? The resulting output would be 110 @ 50 hz.

I used one in the UK for about 4 years. The tools will run at a buit slower RPMs but will do the job

Since when has the entire South American sub-continent run on 50hz? I thought all of the Americas run on 60Hz? Did I miss something?

Not all. For example Brazil is 60Hz, Paraguay is 50Hz. Both are supplied by the Itaipu Dam generators.

I was talking voltage not Hz. So my amican 110v 60hz tools ran on a 3.3 tranny using 50Hz with no real problems, the RPMs were a bit slower but other than that NSTA
