I have been using Thunderbird email software without any problem for many years. I just got a new Windows 10 laptop computer & was setting it up today. The computer came with a trial version of Norton anti virus running on it. It has been years since I have used Norton anti virus software. I have been using Microsoft's anti Virus without any problems.
When I try to down the Thunderbird email software, I get a message from Norton AV saying that Thunderbird is not safe & has been removed. I tried to find a place in Norton AV to change Thunderbird to safe, but I could not find it.

Has anyone else had this problem with Thunderbird? I need help.

I'm using Thunderbird with Windows 10 and Windows Defender; not Norton.  With this setup Thunderbird runs fine.  I can tell you that when I first updated this computer from Windows 8.1 to 10 I was running AVG anti-virus and ran into major problems. I finally had to uninstall it and go with Microsoft's Defender instead.  Since I made the switch Windows 10 has worked very well.

You may just want to get rid of Norton since it is causing you problems and go with Microsoft Defender.

Thanks for the help.
I uninstalled Norton. Windows Defender took over.
The install of Thunderbird went perfect. I got my Thunderbird profile moved to the new computer.
I am back in business.
Now, if reinstalling all of my software goes this well I will have it made.
Thanks again.  ;D

Norton IS a virus!!

I use avast free and have very few false positives and it is easy to set file exclusions.

I think removing Norton is the right move.
