Mud room locker built-in

Finished and installed this mudrm locker and desk last week.
Built it in the shop and stained and finished in my painters shop.
Made of poplar.  The drawer boxes are made from pre-finished maple plywood. I really enjoy working on useful storage built-ins. You know it's going to be used by the customer and help them organize those things that are hard to find a home,
(Coats,gloves,shoes,and bags)!

Nice design and execution.  Impressed with the color given you are staining poplar.  Assume you used blotch control and assume shellac to help control!

I can't take  much credit for the stain and finish. We use a painter that does mostly custom homes.  He's pretty damn good!  He always bitches about me sanding too much!  On poplar, when sanded too much it lightens the wood and makes it hard to stain. Also it closes the grain and that doesn't help matters.  So with poplar there's a fine line. The stain is from Sherwin Williams, it's called Sherwood. The clear coat is lacquer.

Maybe if u though a bucket of water on it?!  There is several coats of finish on it.

One of the hardest moments is when u finally finish up a project and are standing there admiring your work. Think to yourself, are they going to take care of this piece as good as I would?!! U hope so since they spent all that money on it.  Then u walk away and start thinking bout the next project!

Looks great. Excellent job. Looks very similar to a unit I just finished. I think the beadboard looks great for the backs.

Haha!! For some reason most people want beadboard on the back.  I think they fine pics on Pinterest and like how it looks. It's kind of keeping up with the jones'!
