He did this one mostly by himself, though within eyesight  [wink]
This last week has been a bit slow in some departments, which can happen, this time of year. It seems like some years we are crazy-busy trying to cram in a lot of last minute work and other years, some of the clients push the jobs back a few weeks. That was the case this time, but it leaves time for some clean-up and organization/upgrades. I have been in mostly normal pace, working on 2 at once, with at least one in my in-box hopper. The kid had been helping out over in the laminate counter top department, since I was messing with the "horrible little desk" and there wasn't much for him to do on it without being in my way.
I got pulled off of that to "hurry up" another job, so I brought him back to do the final clean-up and pack up that job. By the time he got done with that, a second "hurry up" job came along, so the boss let him have a shot at it by himself, knowing that I would supervise.
I'm trying to emphasize order-of-operations with him, because it's a huge thing in this arena. One thing out of place can really cost you in time and figuring a work-around.
He did ok, not how I would have done it, but starting ok. I kind of let him do his thing, just watching.
He backed himself into somewhat of a corner, not bad, but there is a smoother/faster way. He did some overkill that wasn't strictly necessary, but it worked out, looks the same either way. That makes it good, speed comes later and they don't expect him to fly through stuff.
I did have to jump in and run him through the particulars of the lock mechanism, but he did the rest.
His "hurry up job" got delivered and installed today, after just finishing at the end of yesterday.
So, I have pics of in the shop and installed.
FWIW, mine got pushed to the middle of next month, late in the day yesterday.
Both got done, so today was an easy half-day of maintenance.

Great coaching…get them going and only step in with corrections or minimal advise.
