I thought that I would post a few pictures of my shop transformation. I was able to get some material from work. The material is cherry laminated MDF, not the best material to use, but it was free.

This is how my shop looked before the renovation:

The first obstacle I had was to move my main water line.

Looking good...real good [thumbs up]

Worth the 8 stitches I'd say... [poke]

That is great.  Starting to look like a classy paneled "board" room only in this case it is really for boards!

How did you attach the panels and did you put edging on them?  Is that a slat wall?

Thanks for sharing!

So ... ? Are you going to start selling men's shirts and ties from your basement? [eek]

Now to work on my dust collection. I bought the ductwork from Nordfab and Carolina Air.

Thanks!

It was worth the stitches and it didn't hurt at all. Scars are cool anyway.

Mike A.

I attached 3/4" birch ply to the concrete/block walls with tapcon concrete anchors. Some places had to be shimed out using masonite. Then I just screwed the MDF slat panels to the plywood. I have not applied any edge banding as of yet. The walls do not need any banding because the edges are not seen, but I will need to add some on a few trim pieces.

My father worked in the HVAC industry and I can remember as a kid, him coming home with cut-up hands all the time. I learned from him and wear leather gloves when I'm working with sheet metal or duct work. The stuff is so sharp sometimes you don't even know you've been cut.

Also purchased and installed some stainless duct from Nordfab for a range vent hood. Really, really nice quality stuff. Love the rolled joints and the quick release clamps.

The nice thing about slat board is that you can reconfigure it as your needs change.

I need to finish up the electric and a few other things. I want to add good lighting and a ceiling also. I have access to a basketball court that I have considered using for the floor, but we want to move soon and I don't want to put too much time in it

That's almost too nice a place to do any work, Daniel... But seriously, what a transformation!

Tom

Very nice layout!

However, far to dark for my liking! would need one hell of a lot of lighting in there!  [eek]
