Sittin in the ER waiting for stitches.

Went to sweep off my tablesaw with a hand broom and caught my knuckle on the blade.

Newly sharpened too!

Ouch  [sad]

Hate the ER.  Was there this time last year.  I am Stoopid too!  Don't beat yourself up to much, at least the blade wasn't spinning.

Thanks bob. Insurance won't kick in either . $1400!

There goes my summer festool purchases ...

Ouch man, that stinks.  Many times I've used super glue. It actually works very well. Just be careful not to get any in the cut, stings like crazy as most would imagine.  I once cut myself so bad trying to trim down a piece of drywall.  I had a buddy hold the cut closed and I dropped on the crazy glue and got right back to work.  Now I keep it in my trailer in case I make a dumb mistake again.

Hope it heals up quickly for you.  I too have a high deductible on my insurance and I think only a heart attack or stroke will ever get me to the ER. If I went to the ER every time my wife has suggested it, I'd be in much debt by now. [laughing]

Yeah, had I known the cost, I'd have opted for butterfly bandages. But our neighbor (former nurse) told me it'd need stitches.

It was still bleeding pretty fast after 45 min, so better safe than sorry.

There's blood on the blade, should I leave it?

Hope it heals quick , Fritter. I suspect that it is deeper than the pic shows?

Wow that really sucks, I've opened up my fingers a couple time but never had to worry about the bill, free healthcare is the bomb.

Interesting technique for testing the sharpness of the blade  :tongue  :stir

EDIT> attempted smiley fix

bummer, funny how the dumbest little things can get you... hope you heal up quickly

you might not be out of luck with your summer purchases.. the smart thing to do is invest in another CT or at least a nice cleaning set so this dosent happen again, much cheaper than another er visit    [eek]

My wife's in ER right now...

I'm glad you're not. I hope it gets better fast. My experience is that stitched gashes heal faster than the old, electrical tape and paper towel ones...

Kind regards,

Tom

stitches?! i would have wrapped that in tape. maybe wood glue too.

Maybe, depends on the depth of the cut and how profusely it's bleeding. A knuckle cut is different from a regular flesh wound though. At the very least, I'd have soaked it with an antiseptic.

[thumbs up] [thumbs up]

Although, I wouldn't exactly call it free, but I do agree with you.
