My Take on 4 ft. x 8 ft. Worktable

I'm a big fan of 4'x8' work tables. Only had this setup for about 6 months but really liking it so thought I would share a few photos. I'm in a small garage shop and need to assemble and break this down often. It only takes 5-minutes or less to assemble or disassemble and put on my ceiling lift.

Works great for breaking down sheet goods and cutting hardwood to size with my GRS (square) and TPG (dimensional stops and parallel guide), layout table, Domino workstation, gluing/clamping station, etc.

Made up using two saw horses, two 90" track tubes, and three MFT type slabs.

I bought the lifts (I have two of them) years ago - they are Racor Heavy Lift. They have 250# capacity. I use my hand drill to raise/lower them.

I looked at several top designs and came up with this one and drew it up on a 2-d CAD program I have. I’m lucky to have a sign shop near me that has a big CNC router. I had to round over the slots, chamfer the holes, and seal them.

Made the slots wide enough to fit my parallel jaw clamps. I really like the setup so far - except I somehow keep loosing my pencils.

I actually noticed the inside edges of the routed grooves were rounded over. Great idea!
