I want to call out Brice and Jerry Work and personally thank them for the amount of time they put in on this forum, and for their contributions in the form of images, links and documentation.  It's first class, high in detail yet easy to understand.  I often wonder how Brice manages to get any work done and be here as much as he is  ;) .

I have a binder with Jerry's manuals in them for tools I don't even own!  They are great idea starters.

I grew up in a family of carpenters (3rd generation) and contractors in a home both my parents built.  My first adult job was working for a custom homebuilder and I've I spent half my working life in commercial construction.  I went to college (Miami University '82) and graduated with a degree in Industrial Arts (a.k.a shop teacher) and have spent 13 years teaching and the same in industry.  I've seen great work and real garbage over my lifetime and if these two were selling their documentation I'd buy it without hesitation.  It's better than anything any manufacturer puts out (that I've seen anyway).

Thanks to you both, your efforts are sincerely appreciated.

Steve

PS.  This isn't meant to be a slight toward any of the other fine contributors here.  I just have particular regard for both Jerry and Brice.

Steve,
Thank you for your post.  I agree with everything you said!

This forum is all about creating a community of intelligent and friendly people who can help each other with their knowledge and time.  It is terrific how generous people are with both.  I've seen enough forums to know that such camaraderie is not automatic, and shows the unique character of the people we have here.

I'll add that I am also extremely pleased with the way that Festool employees and Festool dealers have joined into our discussions.  They are all busy in their professional lives, which have nothing to do with the Festool Owners Group, so the fact that they take the time to participate in our independent forum really says something.

Members like ours push me to always think of what else I can do for the community.

Stay in touch,
Matthew

Steve, thanks for the kind words. It's nice to know all of the effort is appreciated.

Went I come home from work I find it hard to just relax, I need to do something to sort of unwind, so I log on to the FOG. The days I'm at my desk instead of on site I find myself distracted easily and somehow end up on the FOG site, like now. The truth is I enjoy the tools and the people here.

I'd like to extent my thanks to Jerry Work and John Lucas. John for getting me into Festool from the demos on his site and Jerry for inspiring me with all of his creativity he shares in his PDFs. And of course thanks to all the members here for putting up with my long winded, overly opinionated views and ideas.

Hey Steve - I'm the same way. I have to add John Lucas to the list. Without them I'd probably never have seriously considered buying Festools. And I'd be stuck, annoyed with my crappy tools, wondering how to work around their shortcomings. Instead I can launch right in, knowing that they're going to perform flawlessly. Can't say the same of myself!

You may also have noticed how attentive these guys are to questions. Brice in particular has PM'd me with additional information - and pictures - to answer my questions. Though it is quite clear that HE'S NOT ON FESTOOL'S PAYROLL, they owe these guys A LOT!

It's humbling being in such august company. And such nice people! We're awfully lucky.

Hi all,

I just came across this thread.  Had not seen it before.  Thanks for the kind words.  I am pleased to be in such company and glad that you find my info helpful.

Jerry
