My little bonus came in from a very hard year of work and over the past 2 weeks I have been reading the pro's and con's of the Kapex.  Now I have a great Bosch miter saw and had no intention of buying the Festool however, I hooked up the CT36 last weekend and it was keeping the saw dust down a heck-of-alot better than it was without the dust collection but it was still pretty messy.  Now, my goal is to get to as much dust free as possible in my garage and since the sale is going on I decided to join the Kapex club and pick it up now while I would save some money and I will just sell off my Bosch.  Looking forward to seeing this in action for my upcoming project.

Honestly i'd spend my money on a TS, Domino, OF. Or mebbe a MFT. I would not want to spend money on a tool i already own and you appear to be fine with your Bosch, excepting DE. You'll see a difference between the cuts, but is it worth the money and hassle?
Good luck!

I agree since you already have a great Bosch saw, why not get the Domino or some other tool not in your shop?  I haven't seen any comparisons between the Kapex and Bosch as far as cut quality am I missing something?

Don't listen to them! Buy the Kapex. And a Domino. And whatever else you want...

[wink]

I was rolling out the KAPEX on the UG the other day, setting up the extensions, plugging in the CT ... all while humming the theme tune to Thunderbirds. I didn't realise till I noticed my wife looking at me. As I looked up at her she just rolled her eyes and turned away.

It was then that I took full stock of what I was doing [embarassed]

Thanks for the support .... actually I have a Domino already and a TS and now a Kapex  [big grin]

My good friend just bought my Bosch so my out of pocket is only 450.00 for the Kapex so I am doing really well hiding it from the wife.

It's certainly worth $450 for the upgrade.

Congrats, my new Kapex is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.  I looked at them all and it was not even close, Festool gets my business once again, CT 48, TS 55, OF 1400, couple of MFT 3's, parallel guides, and the list goes on.

This "Green" thing is contagious.

yup get the kapex sell all bosch tools  ;D

Not to start a riot but, in my humble opinion the Bosch Gravity Rise stand is way more handy than the Festool UG stand at a fraction of the price.  I have the Bosch Gravity rise and I have watched the videos of the Festool UG and I realize how much more efficient and sturdy the Bosch stand is but unfortunately the Kapex won't fit on it so I might have to buy a brand X saw to replace my Dewalt.

Oh, trust me, she knows, or will know eventually.  My wife told me the other day in the event I was to pass suddenly, please leave a note somewhere that tells her what all of the Festools cost, and how much to sell them for......  They aren't dummies, a quick Google can pretty much clue them in on what each tool cost....

Not sure what you mean when you say it won't fit on a gravity rise stand.  There is another thread about just this subject which has a pic of the Kapex on a Gravity rise stand.  I'm concerned because I have a Kapex and Gravity rise in transit via UPS with expected delivery some time next week.  I know the stand has captured 5/16" threaded nuts for mounting the saw and the Kapex has 6mm (1/4") holes for mounting.  I do not intend to drill out the Kapex holes but I will (if I have to) drill new holes in the stand or get longer 1/4" bolts and go through the 5/16" stand nuts and use 1/4" nuts.

hopper,

you mentioned the best solution I've seen if I don't want to modify the Kapex base "using longer 1/4" bolts and capturing them under the captive nuts.  I need to look at my stand tomorrow but, I think this will work (if I don't want to drill out the optional mounting holes).
