Received an email from Festool saying I took part in one of their surveys this June, and they were inviting me to "Discover MyFestool PLUS".

I can't find a public link to the offerings, but sharing a screenshot here.  Thoughts?  For me I don't really see the benefit.  Free shipping for tools is worth something (especially if you have a Kapex) -- presume that's both ways.

It's a trend, they try to get more money with "services" on a subscription basis.

Can't comment without knowing what exactly "premium protection" is and what the TOS are. And would need to know if the free sharpening includes shipping to and from or just one way or shipping not included at all.

Besides that, I'm with Coen, it's a trend but falls short of fleet service.

I remember that survey, we had it in Germany as well.

Kind regards,
Oliver

I got the same email this morning. The offering and subscriptions aren't available yet. The email acts like what they'd send people to sign up. Presumably, the comment section at the bottom would be replaced with buy-now buttons.

It just asked how you use the tools, which level you'd be interested in, and room for comments.

The FAQ section indicates Plus adds a year to your warranty while the Pro adds 2 years. But, is that on all your tools or only those purchased after you started the subscription?

Plus is $99/yr gets you 2 blade sharpening. The FAQ states the free shipping aspect is for Recon purchases, spare-parts purchases, Fan shop purchases, and repairs. New tools, consumables, etc are not included.

While I imagine their sharpening service is better (or should be) than the local guy, the local guy takes 5 days if you just do the store pickup and I can get a lot of sharpening for $99.

The word sharpening's massively hacks me off. C'mon guys - this is basic 10-year old kids grammar.

ha! I didn't notice that (fault of reading too many instant/chat messages all day); at least it wasn't me that did it!

Well, I guess technically the sharpening is owned by the blade so maybe the possessive is appropriate?

Ok, [member=75780]woodbutcherbower[/member]  I thought I was the grammar police  [eek]
I generally let it slide with people as individuals, but with print material from a business? No.
That apostrophe actually means something, it is not the glue you use to stick a S onto a word.
That's one of my top pet-peeves.
Made me chuckle though [big grin]

That blade sharpening box is totally screwed up.

To me it says Festool now offers sawblade sharpening service.

AND you get two free blades.

It doesn’t say you merely get two blades sharpened for free, IF you pay $99 ahead of time.

At first I thought $99 and I get two blades? I’m in! But no…
