Hi all,

I'm just new on this forum. Since some months I'm an enthusiastic systainer user. Based on some other posts here I made my own powerSys. It has a build in radio/mp3 player.

I got some left over carpet and made the inside look nice.

Excuse my stupidity: what does it do besides playing music?
And welcome to the FOG!

It has 4 electric sockets and a toggle switch for the MP3 player. Using a larger systainer one could even store extension cords in the systainer. I would look at adding a circuit breaker or GFI.

I understand the two electric outlets on the exterior, but why do you want outlets inside the box?

It looks very nice, by the way.  [smile]

I was trying to work out where the speakers are, but they are behind the small holes on the front?.. I thought that was for ventilation.

Maybe for your next project you could build myFireExtinguisherSys3 for when this one catches fire !  [eek] (sorry, I don't like the look of the electrics and wallwart confined in a plastic box, topped off 'with_what_looks_like_a_flammable_foam_sort_of_carpet_thing' with some kindling (sorry, wood!) thrown in!

[welcome]

I think you would better off if you tidy the cables up. Also i would not bother with the carpet etc. Cables should not be covered up, they are better with plenty of air around them.  [smile]

Improvements can still be made:) Cables are tidied up right now. I was thinking about adding a power switch, but this can also be annoying to have.

The sockets inside are mainly there to connect a phone charger or battery charger in case I need it.
Speakers are indeed behind the holes on the front side. I thought I would need more holes, but it sounds fine right now.

haven't you ever heard the phrase " if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all " ? ???

The utility of these things really depend on the needs of the individual.

I do think care needs to be taken when adapting anything involving mains power. I've got to be honest, I'm surprised the mod allow topics involving wiring mains power into systainers on this forum.

[size=13pt]Couldn't agree with you here Kev.
Surely placing carpet in a contained unvented box full of mains power electrical circuits would pass any OH&S inspection.  [eek] Yes/No? [big grin]
