Hey all, I bought the KS120 EB on a whim recently, $400 off was too good to pass up. Supposedly the motor is from the new REB model, so fingers crossed  [big grin]

Anyways, I found 2 items stuck in the styrofoam packaging that I couldn’t identify - a small hex key and a spring. Any idea what these are for?

The spring——no clue.

Allen key is for adjusting the lasers if necessary.

It's a special during COVID, toss a random extra thing in the box with the tools and new owners will spend hours/days trying to figure out what the deal it. Helps time pass.

IKEA has done this for years

Thanks Tom, wonder why there's no holder on the saw itself for the key, seeing as there's a holder for the larger blade change hex key.

Haha, I'll see if there's any knobs missing a spring. Didn't get a UG stand, so might be for something else.

[member=72629]buhhy[/member], welcome to the forum.

It looks like the spring that goes under the trigger release button on the top of the saw head. Or, maybe the spring under the Fastfix knob.

It would probably be worth sending this to Festool to identify for you. I would suggest that you not use the saw in the mean time in case it causes a safety issue with operation.

Personally, for peace of mind, I would exchange the saw.

Huh?  Sending it back because there is a spring loose, without knowing if its from the saw?  Bit over the top IMO.

Call festool first. I would check EKAT, check where the springs are. And double check that (if possible).  Of course QA should have got did this, before shipping, but its after all human process!  Shit happens.

Good point on checking EKAT. It might be this one? I only see a single spring in mine. Could someone check to see if they have multiple springs in theirs?

I'd like to avoid sending it back, it would be a pain in the butt to ship.

Did the hold-down clamp come as a puzzle?
Else I would be at a loss how that spring should have managed to remove itself from the clamp.

For me it also looks like the springs used at the knobs of the UG wings.

Ekat is a good idea. Could be a spring that took a woooii during assembly at the plant, and never to be found again, until by you [big grin].
I had a “spare” washer pinched between table top and the chassis on my CS, besides a bolt and sleeve - but those were obviously missing on the saw so it was just a bolt on and go. Washer? - Tossed it in with other bits for FT stuff as a “spare” [wink]

This is what the spring on the UG wings look like, yours look more like the one on Ekat image:

It also looks like the spring for the UG wing connector to me, and I can’t imagine it could be a clamp spring come lose, as they only seem removable by taking the clamp apart.
When my Kapex arrived, the only thing that was lose in the box was the angle finder.

Id put it aside in a safe place and start using and enjoying the saw. Then by chance ya find its needed somewhere then ya gottit

.. Most likely it is not belonging to YOUR saw, since your saw was sitting as a completed product when the spring landed in your box..
I’d guess it’s for someone else’s saw  [wink]

Anyone having a FT clamp for Kapex not working properly? Or a non return action on their Kapex?  [big grin]
