Nail Hole Filling Tip

I don't remember where I read this tip but I just wanted to endorse it and post it here.  Filling nail holes in trim, especially on prefinished, can be a royal pain cleaning up.  Before nailing, run some painter's tape where you will be nailing, shoot nails and then fill the holes before you remove the tape.  It especially works well on open pore wood like oak.

I can't tell you how many times I've done just that!

Brilliant. Have a virtual beer on me ;)

P.S. I'm going to go stick masking tape on my guns right now.

Thanks for the tip! As a painter, I can only imagine the huge eye roll I’d get from the carpenters if I asked them to tape before they shot every nail.
