I've been looking for plans for toy chest for our small den that will double as a piece of nice furniture when it's closed.  Plan on using mostly festool to build it, ie. Ts55, Domino and OF1400.  I think I'll use Cherry or an equivalent.  Does anyone have an idea where I can find either a plan or picture so I can design my own?  Wife wants the chest to be adult looking so every plan I have seen so far are for a kid's room.  Appreciate the help!

If you go to my web sitehttp://www.clintholeman.com/pages/projects_2.html, not to blow my own horn  ::), you will see a picture of a nice blanket chest that would work quite well as a toy chest.

It is made of purple heart and ash - frame and panel construction.  It is simple and elegant - not much planning is required.  And it will hold a lot of toys.  Additionally, it will work well as a bench seat. It is a nice piece of furniture, even in a more formal setting.

42" long X 16" deep X 18" h [including the top].

Perfect!  Just what I am looking for as she wants to use it as alternative seating as well.  How did you set in the panels? Are the back of frames rabbeted?  Are the plans available for purchase?  If the wife approves, I'll give it a go!  Thanks!
