I am trying to get a replacement blade for the Kapex KS-60 preferably here in the US but if not I can order from Europe or UK
If I could get a better one than festool. Maybe 80 tooth or at least 60 tooth
I have not had any luck finding one here. Maybe our European members may be able to help?

What European or German blade brands are top quality

CMT 253.060.08 ITK Industrial Finish Sliding Compound Miter Saw Blade, 8-1/2-Inch x 60 Teeth 1FTG+2ATB Grind with 5/8-Inch Bore

For fine finish crosscuts. Glass-smooth finish on your miter cuts.
To be used on compound miter saws for cutting soft/hardwood, plywood and two-sided laminates.
0.087 kerf thickness, 0.055 plate thickness, 7° Hook Angle, 1 Flat + 2/15° alternate teeth Grind.
Micrograin carbide for long-lasting cutting performance and smooth cut on wood/wood products.
Laser-cut plate features expansion slots to reduce noise and anti-vibration design.

What about this CMT blade? I am not sure of the +7 hook angle ??

I see that almost all 8.5” blades available in the US have a 5/8” bore. Whereas the ks-60 blade uses a 30mm bore. So those will not work ??

Are you using a KS-60 in the US?  Where did you get yours?

Matt

Edit: saw the answer to my previous question on another thread.

1. You need to start with what materials you want to cut. Wood blades are pretty much all the same but materials like solid surfacing & plastic laminates need different blades which means different styles of teeth.

2. If you are using a miter saw or radial arm saw, you want to have a blade that has a negative hook angle. This helps prevent the blade from "feeding" itself into the material. I've used a positive hook angle blade on a 12" radial arm saw and it was not a fun experience. It can be done in a pinch but I'd not recommend it on a daily basis.

3. Your saw blade needs to have a 30mm bore. 30mm = 1.181", a 5/8" bore = .625"  [eek]

What don't you like about the Kapex blade you're presently using?

Rough cut, chipped cut surface, blade too expensive, or too difficult to sharpen?

My experience says Festool blades are pretty darn good and while they are expensive, unless you're a general contractor that goes through a blade every few weeks, they last a long time between sharpening. Just keep them clean and by removing the pitch and you'll extend the intervals between sharpening.

Cheese :  I just wanted to see if I could get a very good quality blade for finsih work (not carpentry), that I could buy in the U.S., as the Festool would have to come from Europe.

Scorpion: Yes, I bought the KS-60 online from a dealer in the UK, and had him ship it DHL to me here. No problems. I dont want to divulge their name online, since Festool may reprimand them for selling out of their territory. Dont want them to get penalized for doing a good deed!

Looks like I may be stuck getting the Festool blade, can these be sharpened? If so, where in the US?

Hey [member=62093]Intex[/member] ,the CMT blades that will fit are in their European catalog so chances are they’d probably have to be ordered from Europe anyways.

If you want a finish blade I’d order the 60 tooth Festool blade.

The blades can be accurately resharpened by Leitz Tooling in the US as they are originally manufactured by Leitz Tooling.  [smile]

Having the proper equipment to sharpen these blades is a must.

Hey Intex, If you haven't heard we're actually the Greatest Festool Saw Blade Sharpening Center on Earth... Probably...
Well, we've been sharpening blades since 1934, so we're pretty good at it now.
