I was very lucky to catch an add in the FOG Classifieds for plug-it conversion adaptors (Pigtails).
Thank you again to the Gentleman who was so kind to offer these for sale to other Festool users.

This is a portion of the add.

The black tails had a slightly different socket which I assume is for some European-only tool.  I did have to take a razor and carve off a bump.  This creates the plug-it socket type is on the TS and routers, and what-not.  Ergo, you would need to use a 16g power cord with these.
You can see in the picture there is an additional little divot to the top right (in the photo).  This extra divot does not affect usage or performance in the slightest.
The actual wire in these is of heavier gauge than the green tails.  They seem equally flexible.

Anyway I'd like to source more of these black pigtails from Europe and I need help with the part number.

Thanks in advance, Sam.

Samo,

My advice is that you make friends with our European members.  European dealers will generally not ship to the US.  I did do a search in the European Ekat system and did not see it.

Good Luck!

Peter

That internal "bump" is a vital safety feature!

Festool makes two different kinds of power cables. The version with the larger ampacity does not have the "bump"

The lighter-duty cable not intended for Festools needing more amps has the "bump" to prevent people using smaller cables on powerful tools.

The good news is that all tools shipped with the light-duty cable will work fine with the larger ampacity cables.

Removing that safety "bump" could become a big problem.

Samo, as Peter said you need to make a connection with someone in Europe.

Carroll, the bump that was removed is on the pigtail / tool side. But I agree the bump should NOT be removed from a North American light cord.

The North American light cord could not be plugged into the  black pigtail shown above, because the NA light cord has a bump and needs a space to fit into.

The wire gauge on the black pigtails above converts to approx. 15ga, so it is equal to or better than the 16ga North American heavy cord.

Hi
I am just looking in the 2010/11 UK catalogue and on page 311 it shows the green cable as a " plug it conversion-kit"in two lengths 360mm 491144 & 420mm 491145 these appear to be for use with non plug it tools so the wire goes into the tool and the plug fixes with your existing plug it cable. I cannot find this on the UK EKAT !!
Then the black one does show up on the EKAT  but only as the "plug " no lead attached  that part number is 489685
Hope this helps
Fishy

This one with the black cable is for UK-only 110V tools.

The 'bump' that is moulded in is NOT in the same position as the bump on some of the US connectors.

The part number for it is 494910, "UBS-PUR420 plug it GB 110V". That is the part you are refering to.

The part 489685 that festool fishy refers to is a replacement plug, whereas the pigtails are a 'socket'.

All very confusing  !!
Not sure what you need it for but hope JRB and I may have helped

Wow!!!!  Thanks guys.   [big grin]  I like these black pigtails, as they are rubber and much easier to modify.
The green whips that are widely talked about as available in Europe are very tough, but coated with what I think is a Polyurethane and impossible to shorten.

Peter, Carroll, Seth, Fishy and Johnny!  Thanks again, I learn an awful lot from the members here.

The black ones are more flexible.  The green ones do indeed have a very tough covering, but they not impossible to shorten  [big grin]
