Being offered to me is the above branded bandsaw. Being in The States, the best description the seller can give me is: that it is a 1 1/2hp motor, 12" heighth capacity, 17.5" wheel diameter, built in 1999, it is green.

Is there anyone with information on what this could be? Also, my primary purpose for a larger saw is resawing up to 12" hard wood, most generally 8" or less though. I'm a little leary to make the journey accross North Texas to look at a saw that I know nothing about; but if it is of high quality, the journey could be a blessing.

Thank you.

Electra Beckum is a division of Metabo. Generally regarded as a very good quality European brand. Do a Google search for Electra Beckum  - you should find all the data you need. Personally, if it was a good price, I would jump at it.

Elecktra Beckum was purchased by Metabo around '06 or '07. I've one of EB's portable tablesaws and can say it is of decent quality, along the lines of Delta in the states.
In my opinion that machine would be underpowered to resaw hardwoods 8" or bigger unless you have a lot of free time on your hands.

I think I may have the same bandsaw - but I'm not in the shop so am not sure.  It is not big enough for resawing (I am lining up a bigger saw as our next big purchase) but in the 10 years I've had it it has served me pretty well.  It is a bit basic,  but the quality is sound enough and it has been reliable.  They now sell the same painted blue under the Metabo label.  The fit and finish is better than on any of the oriental stuff IMHO
Regards,
Richard
