I have an Inca Jointer/Planer (made in Switzerland in the 1980s) which I think was sold in USA designated as Model 507 or 510. To my knowledge, Inca went out of business. Cutter width is ~10 1/4", max. thickness through the planer is ~6 5/16" (actual dimensions are all metric). Mine is equipped with a single phase 220V, 1.5KW motor which drives the cutter head through a flat belt and the knurled metal planer feed rollers. The feed roller sprockets are connected by a roller chain mechanism that is driven by an elastomeric O-ring twisted nearly into a figure 8 which spins a steel screw shaped gear (think of spinning a hollow threaded rod). This screw shaped gear is engaged with one of two concave shaped pinion gears to drive the feed rollers These pinion gears are molded of plastic!!, and the teeth on the smaller one of my pinion gears is degraded. Later machines were equiupped with a second flat belt drive instead of the O-ring, but they still used the same screw-shaped gear and plastic pinion gears. The teeth of the pinion gears appear to be slanted (helical) relative to the axis of rotation.
Does anyone know of a source for parts for this otherwise excellent machine? (I am still using the original HSS knives!)
If not, does anyone know of a source for custom gears? All dimensions of this machine and its components are metric.
If not, does anyone know of a shop/source where I might have the planer rollers retrofitted with a separate small motor drive? A totally variable speed drive would be great.
Any other thoughts on restoring the power feed roller function?
Can a C12 drill be locked "on" and its speed adjusted? [That would give me "justification" for a C12 set and perhaps one of Matthew's "most original (ab)uses of Festool" prizes.]
