Neolith porcelain Counter top

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience in installing a Neolith Porcelain, or equivalent, counter top. This product is very thin and the clients wants a 10" overhang on the island with no visible brackets supporting. She was originally going with a granite top but then saw this new product and fell in love with it. I hear that it is close to 1/3 inch thick. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Never heard of the product, but it seems really thin for a 10" overhang.  I was told when pricing out granite for my kitchen that it shouldn't be more than 12" without support.  Is there a place where you could get a sample to make sure there will be no issues?  Do some stress tests set up how she envisions it, and videotape in case it breaks you can show her your concerns about making sure it is supported right, even if brackets are shown.

We just bought a house that was recently remodeled (poorly) and it has an island that is approx 32x 48. it has a stove top on one side and on the other a very close to 10" overhang of granite. There is plywood under the grante that is hidden from side view by built up edge.

I have two kids 10 and 8 and they do their homework there. There isn't a day that goes buy where we aren't yelling at them to stop hanging off that ledge on the overhang. I have no idea how they installed the cabinets or the top but I will tell you with 55LBS leaning or hanging off the edge the leverage comes close to moving that set of cabinets. I am also scared it will pop the opposing end up as it is probably just siliconed down.

Looks great but you can hear the creaking and moaning when they are on it. Looks like cool product. Maybe convince them to a torsion box that you wrap the sides and maybe bottom of the overhang giving it a say 4" thick slab look and it has the torsion box for support.

I am off to yell at my kids!
