Longtime Festool Fan here wanting to know if the 2026 Kapex production is having any problems before I buy what may be my fourth saw? Thank you.

Well, it is only January, and although we are probably the largest only Festool community, we do only make up a small subset of their users. Based on your posts yesterday, if you had motor issues with your other saws, here at least, it has been quiet for a number of years about Kapex issues with motors on newer models. Could there be issues? No one knows here other than what posters post, but the large number of complaints aren't there right now.

Hi Peter, thank you for your reply. It seems you took offense at my posting. Did not intend to attack your sensitivities. Since you are a Ask Festool person you may be able to access my repair requests, the pictures I sent, and sample cut provided with the machine repair request and understand another person's point of view. As far as my other posting go they are reasonable considering good money is being spent. So, for those who accuse me of poor performance without any understanding of experience level or production history perhaps a mirror is appropriate.

I own 4 Kapex’s, 3-120’s 1-cordless 60. They all get used in a commercial setting.

The first Kapex I bought was within 6 months of its introduction. Four years of use I had to replace the armature, it has been flawless since. The other 3 have had no issues whatsoever so ever.

I checked all of the settings out of the box, none needed adjusting. Over time things wear, I have had to adjust 2 of the 120’s.

I've got the KS-120 REB and I think I bought it around 2010 roughly, it's never been abused but also hasn't been given any special treatment. I have though man-handled it and lugged it around home and sites an awful lot, but it's never needed any recalibration or adjustment which honestly has been really surprising to me. I couldn't be happier with it and now plan to get the cordless 60 so I can lug around a slightly less weighty saw.

John, I didn't take offense, I was trying to help. As others have noted, I am not an employee and know nothing about your situation other than what you posted nor can I help you directly like Festool can. Others have also confirmed the information I posted honestly regarding a general lack of complaints here as of late with later models. I went on to point out that we are a tiny fraction of the Kapex users worldwide so as to point out our posts here are a small sampling.

Talking to Festool on the phone is the best avenue and the one I usually suggest.

I have a Kapex KS120 dated 2015-07 which I bought circa 2017/18 off a dealer who used it for demonstration purposes and it has performed flawlessly — still with its original blade. But we Europeans are on 220-240 Volts and as I understand the issue the problematic Kapexes are mostly 110V models, right?

I have an EB model I purchased in 12/09/2017. I have not had any problems and am very happy with the saw.

I have not seen anything on the FOG about problems with the recent 2025 versions. Seems to me what ever happened years ago has been resolved. I, of course, have no inside Festool info, just what I read here and my own experience with the Kapex I own.
