New 4" Cyclone from Axminster

Hi Everyone

In the UK it has been very difficult to get a bare 4" cyclone at a sensible price. So, I put some pressure on Axminster to sort this out. It has taken a while, which is understandable for anyone who works in the business as it is not easy sourcing and bringing to market new products that undercut the competition.

I have just produced a video of the solution. I am using a sample provided by Axminster in the video.


I have no information about shipping outside the EU but expect it to be at a reduced priced as European sales tax of 20%  (VAT) will be taken off the price and shipping is usually quite low.

Hi Peter, I ordered one from the far east and as a good cyclone comes down to the right dimensions for the flow, the one I ordered online for about 30 pounds works very well. I followed the  CT-VA-20 discussion closely and I now own one and I am very happy with it.
Here is how I see it:
A well built homemade cyclone outperforms a Thien baffle, and it is way cheaper to build you own solution, mine cost about 75 euro. I ordered the cyclone and 10 m antistatic 50 mm hose (hose is not Festool quality, but used stationary).
So why do I own a CT-VA-20 and claim to be happy with it
A homemade cyclone solution is way bigger than the CT-VA-20. I has tubing sticking out at weird angles, you cannot stack anything on it. The CT-VA-20 is much more compact, can be stacked on systainers, can be used without the clear container, looks way more professional for a client, is much more mobile even in the shop. Fits neatly in a car.
In practice, the performance difference is almost unnoticeable. I clean the vacuums typically when I am too late cleaning the clear containers.
