New 45 minute charger

Gah! and all this a month after I go all-in on half a dozen 5.2's and an extra charger... typical.

Any information on compatibility? Will standard batteries still charge in the Airstream charger but slower? Or will the new batteries work in the old charger (at slower charge rate)?

Hate to have to drag an extra charger about...

.....Li ion will charge on the AS charger at 8ah.

Hi!

Thank you Phil!

I found the German press release about the AIRSTREAM system:https://www.festool.de/Presse/Press...ilungen/AIRSTREAM_0916_DE_ohne Sperrfrist.pdf

It states that the air flows through an encapsulated cooling channel that runs between the battery pack's cells (I hope I translated that correctly)

So dust shouldn't be a problem, just as I thought, Festool did take this into account.  [thumbs up]

Kind regards,
Oliver

.....correct. The air runs through a channel

Hello from Germany..... [wink]

Enjoy your stay, Phil!

I guess you've been to Germany numerous times - and I also guess you've done your fair share of sight seeing in the surrounding area of the Festool HQ? If you have some spare time & like fast cars (namely: Porsche) - the 40km distance from Wendlingen to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart is well worth the drive - as is the Mercedes-Benz Museum (that lies exactly on the route) And you'll get a 25% discount if you show your ticket from Mercedes at Porsche (or vice versa, it's a currently running promotion)

But you've probably been there, I guess - not a real insider tip by any means ;)

Kind regards,
Oliver

What are the dimensions of the new chargers and batteries?
Will they fit the current systainer inserts?

Well..I have heard rumors that Festool will soon launch new screwdrivers whit the new batteries, Perhaps it is rather given to launch new cordless drills now when they have release new batteries? Their current Driver's are at the stone age compared to all other brands, so they need to be updated and refreshed!
Anyway I look forward to new toys.. and i really hope they come out whit a brushless Cxs soon! i love that drill but mine is almost worn out, and i will not buy a new one untill festool relese a new model thats for sure!

....nothing planned in this area to update the 'stoneage' drivers  [wink]

.....overall size is as follows
240lx80hx100w
As they are longer than the TCL 3 they will not fit the current insert. Machines supplied with the AS charger will have a re designed insert

"stone age drill/drivers".  Ha! I would not agree with that. I have not used a drill i prefer than either my T18 or CXS in their respective class. And I've used a lot of drill/drivers.

I do think an option for the drills to come with the smaller 2.6ah batteries would make sense. The 18v drills are a lot comfier in use with these batteries.

What needs to be updated or refreshed? They put holes in stuff and drive screws.  [huh]

Just because other brands have a new flavor-of-the-month all the time with new models, they don't change the functionality.

well stoneage drill was litte overdo so i apologize for that  [smile]

Can we try and keep this thread focused on the charger please  [wink]...but still no current plans on the drill drivers ....

Back on topic. I think these new batteries & charger are a fine addition to the range but it's not something that I'll be upgrading to specifically. The fact the charger won't fit in my systainers, or charge most of my batteries any faster, and that the batteries don't have a belt clip for use on my drills...  but the occasional overheated battery has never really inconvenienced me.

Is TCL6 charger US version will work in europe... can I just change the plug?
I am curious if TCL EU version is much different than US version.
Voltage on US version states up to 120V but maybe there is a slightly chance that t will work in EU?
