New Bluetooth batteries

In another post , I see a new Bluetooth system coming to the UK.,
and hopefully to the US as well.
My question is this ,are the batteries new? Or is the Bluetooth technology already built in ?

The reason for my question is that I had , in the last month bought 4- 18v 6 ah batteries , and would like to know if the tech is already built in?

I have a Maaxis set up , but the remote is not working for some reason , the light on the remote works , but not the vac.
I will check the battery , and after Christmas , get in touch with Rick if it continues to not work.

Basically transmitter / receiver in battery .... same in CT vac  module. They communicate to remotely turn on / off the vac when using cordless tools.  There is more in the CT updates topic.

How long have the airstream batteries be available in NA? I would guess that the Bluetooth batteries would be available maybe in the second half of 2018 for us in NA.

As its bluetooth and theres a reciever at the extractor end fitted to the outlet I would assume some bright spark can make an app to remotely start the extractor using a phone also.
Of variable benefit and sometimes it would be great and others not so great.

I really hope Festool doesn't go down the route of making batteries that you can remotely stop after a certain time period like the Dewalt batteries as I feel thats making overly complicated and I don't lime the idea of hackable batteries.

Check the obvious first, that the vac is in auto, and listen for the relay to click when you press the remote.

Then remove the cover and check that the plugs didn't come loose.

With the vac in auto, unplug the vac and plug it back in. Look for a little LED to light up for 1 second. If it doesn't, then Maxsys isn't getting power. If it does light up, then try re-pairing the remote (see back page of manual).

If you hear the relay click, then we'll have to troubleshoot your CT-vac.

They announced these new batteries about 13-15 months after bringing the airsteam out in the uk and within the same year of introducing them to the states.

One should appreciate the different form factor for the sanders, but concerning the standard 18v range, seems pretty sketch.

Adding some grills and an air channel is simpler than to get wireless right (plus the fun with having to certify it, emission testing and the whole red tape of paperwork that comes with it). Dosn't have to be ill will - and as far as I see it the remote that fits the hose seems to be more practical than the bluetooth enabled batteries anyway...
