New catalog? German teaser here...

I got the new 08/09 catalog Kapex and all. The price for the Kapex is $1300.00.

Just had a look at the new "VAC SYS" video- WOW that looks nice.

It does - I really liked the video too! Although on the bit where it sucked itself down onto the table I did think to myself "that won't work on an MFT!".

Then later I noticed this picture on the website:

And this one, too - It folds away!!!

They're bloody clever, these Germans! ;D

jakeg, you should weep for joy at those prices, try over 1700 dollars for the basic saw

better yet

the full set.......................... over 2800 dollars

the journey over the english channel is 22 miles, london to new york is 3500 miles, london los angeles 5500 miles

just to stick the boot in to us here in england english prices ive quoted are for the 110v version (contruction sites in the uk run on 110v)

the prices for 240v (the standard domestic voltage) are the same

the english channel is the most expensive sea crossing in the world bar non

Couldn't get the video to play on my iMac, but limped through the written pages with what little I remember from four years of German....thirty years ago  :D
I want to know more about that compressor in the systainer!

John

Worked great, to a point, on the German site.

Try it, you'll like it...

The MFT3 has a router table attachment designed for the 1400 & 2200 routers. Now that is nice. The vacuum clamp is amazing.

The Vac looks great.
I can't see the video for some reason but the brochure is decent.
I want one! >:(

I posted a day or so ago that I wasn't going for the Kapex, then I browsed around that site (last link listed) - I WANNA SYMMETRIC!

My whole logic for deciding against the Kapex is that I don't need a slider and I can't see $1300 going into a CMS - that Symmetric is not sliding and presumably cheaper - any chance of us getting that little baby?

Don't get all lathered up yet Steve.  Did you see the blade size?  216mm = ~8.5 inches, and as you noted it doesn't slide.

So these capacities shouldn't be a surprise:
Max. strip height  70 mm    ~2.75 inches
Max. strip width 80 mm    ~2.36 inches, less than 2-3/8

UK price excluding VAT is 399 GBP, compared to 729 for the basic Kapex.  Yes, it is cheaper.

I don't see a 110v model offered, so getting it to NA would require some additional engineering.

I truly wonder what the Symmetric is used for...

Ned

Ned,

Thanks for the input - that thing is tiny! actually I guess most of my board cutting is 2" face frames or door frames (kitchen cabinets), so maybe I could use it. but as limited to that purpose - maybe I'll back off my lathering.

Once again dummy (me) read ALL the words before engaging the mouth (or keyboard)

Me too - apparently, it used to sell quite well on the continent (pre-Kapex). It was never popular here in the UK, in fact a Festool sales rep once told me that there were fewer than 10 of them in the whole of the UK! :o

Does anybody know what these two items are for in the MFT/3 pages/pdf?

Zusatzklemmung MFT/3-ZK
Zum Fixieren der Anschlagschiene an der V-Nut
495541

Anschlagreiter MFT/3-AR
Zum Anschlagen von Werkst?cken am Winkelanschlag, wegklappbar
495542

They're both on page 11 of the MFT/3 PDF, near the pictures of the stabilising bars.

I'm about to put an order in for the MFT/3 but I wonder if they are useful/needed?
