Hey everyone

The walnut highboy got so much great attention from everybody on the FOG I thought I might post a few other things i have made in the last couple of mouths, just to show you guys.  I was in dire need of coffee table after we moved so I grabbed the trusty domino and track saw and got to work.  This table is walnut veneer with a MDF substrate, I left the edges of the MDF raw because i have a soft spot for clear coated MDF [huh] ( i know it sounds crazy).  all the veneer was laid up on the MDF first so that i could match the grain on the top.  the track saw really made all of the crazy angles a breeze and the domino made the glue up doable ( because to be honest i don't think it would be possible to do without it, there was just to many miters).  Anyway hope ya like it.

Great execution - your pieces don't sit on the fence ... they will be loved or hated  [wink]

I'm curious, is it intended to sit near a wall or as a centre piece?

Also the glass/poly piece ... how thick is that?

Thanks for the comment.  The piece of acrylic is 1/2" thick.  The coffee table is the center piece of the room, I thought it would be a shame to push one end up to a wall.

I like it.

I take it even though it looks floating you have some sort of support below???
Just curious cus can't imagen it being Strong enough to even support its self

Hey Andrew,

Table looks even better in your place than in pictures - goes well with the entertainment center you put together.

very very nice job  walnut looks great.... have you made anything with rustic hickory?

i have been using rustic hickory lately and it really is an awesome looking wood...

I really like this design, I bet it would look even better if the boards where maybe 32mm thick but that would also push the price up a bit to much.

hickory must be a trend right now,I've had a few jobs call out for hickory lately. I can't remember last time I worked with it.

To answer a few questions. I think the next version will be out of thicker materials which I think would look better.
The next one- this was drawn before hand but after starting the build a few things changed like for instance the acrylic was flush with the top in the drawing but I moved the acrylic down after liking at it
