I am in the middle of re furbing my house and the better half has been shouting about a new dinning table.... so after finally giving in i started looking on the internet and came across the base below..

I love it! My wife hates it.

What a cool piece to make though, I am totally interested in how you are going to go about making it.

Isn't it like multiple layers of wood cut in various shape(bigger/smaller size) and then put together?

Interestingly different!  I'll also be interested to hear how you finally make this.  It looks like one would need a template for each layer.  But with so many layers, unless you plan to make a zillion of them (boring!!), you'll spend an outrageous amount of time making templates.  Of course, the big guys would just program it up on a CNC and let 'er fly.

well a cnc would make life easy! i intend to keep it linea as curves are gonna take some doing without a cnc.

i started today and got 18 of 40 pieces cut. I left my phone with the pics on it at the workshop today so I'll do my best to get them uploaded in the next few days.

Very cool!  I would love having two of those and a sheet of tempered class for my desk.

Check this guy's work out too for some inspiration...
