Just wondering what folks takes are on the new line of Festool Dust extractors.

Are they an improvement on the previous CT22/33 models?
What is the expectation on wear & tear on filters/bags etc?

Cheers :)

Ok just had a bit of a squizz at Forrests lists of links that give some insight into these dust extractors.

Looking to purchase either the C26 E or the C36 E ,for those that have either upgraded or bought one of these whats your  personal take on these?

TIA

Cheers :)

Freebie,

The new CT's are smaller in size but they have more volume.  It's a self cleaning system and it has 2 oulets Instead of 1.  The center of gravity has impoved as well as the casters (made for better wear resistance) and the brake (prefectly balanced).  I don't own one so I can't compare to my CT but it is a improvement if you ask me.
Hope this helps.

Dave did you guys see one of the new vacs in Lebanon?

No we didn't.. Don't quote me on this but I think I did hear that they will be coming to the us.  I fill a little fusy on giving you that answer, but thats what I recall.

I have ever confidence the new vacs will make it to the North America sometime next year. Well as much confidence as someone with no inside connections and who also bases his beliefs on rumor and speculation.  ;D All joking aside, most tools make their way here 6-12 months later than the European release so I'm guessing sometime in the spring.

Dave, from what I understand based on discussions with Anthony of Ideal Tools  (Australian Festool dealer) the new vacs can have a second outlet (among other things) installed as an optional accessory. I could be wrong maybe someone over seas can comment. Here's a link to the AU woodworking forum about the new vacs, it starts off about the CT22/33. CT22/33 no longer available.

Thanks for all the responses.I did'nt realise that they were'nt on the market in the States as yet  ???

There is a brochure available for downloading on the new vacs from Festools australian home site which goes into some detail as you'd expect.

I am looking at doing an upgrade so will look at the all the blurbs in the brochure and go from there.

Once again thanks.

Cheers :)

Freebie,

I refuse to look at brochures.  When it comes to looking at new Festools, to see is to want.  I need to be more like Sergeant Schultz from Hogan's Heroes, "I see nothing, nothing"!!!

Neill

Neill, funny you should mention Sergeant Schultz ,I've just bought the first series of "Hogan's Heroes" gotta laugh at the antics  ;D great series.

Cheers :)

I am waiting delivery of a ctl36 today or early next week.Don't know about 2 outlets.... but I will .Can't compare to older models unfortunately.Nigel.

Although i don't own a new cleantex, i did get one on trial for a couple of weeks.  Very nice unit.  The one i had only had one 240 volt outlet (I'm in UK) but also had an airline outlet.  The airline outlet is for plugging in air sanders to activate the vac in the same way electric ones do.  When buying, you can specify 2 electrical outlets & you can also get a "y" connector for the hose.
Hope this clears things up,

Woodguy.

The new extractors are shipped from the factory with ONE mains power outlet (which switches the vacuum on), and ONE blanking panel.

The blanking panel can be removed and replaced with one of three different modules:

1. A mains outlet, which behaves in exactly the same way as the fixed outlet (ie switches the vacuum on when power is drawn);
2. A mains outlet, which does not switch the vacuum on at all (ie a standard mains outlet);
3. A pneumatic module, which can be connected to a compressor & air tool, switching on the vacuum when air is flowing (ie when the tool is in use).

The two electric modules are around GBP35 each; the air module is around GBP140.

Thanks guys for clearing this up.  If you take a look at the picture of this vac, it shows 2 outlets.

Nigel, Let us know how you like the new vac when you get one.

Further to my above post, it appears there is also a FOURTH module available - for connecting to the Energy Box (NAINA, probably).

What is an Energy Box?

Is it this module Module EAA ?

What does it do?

Do you know if it's compatible with old CT handle and boom arm?

Thanks,
VictorL

I asked the same question, Anthony answered it for me, it's a module to have the vac and the tool on separate circuits but still trigger the vac when powering the tool on. I believe it works with the large industrial boom arm only.

I believe so.  See Tom's post below.

If you look on the UK website, it shows a different handle in the accessories and no boom arm. I'm guessing that it doesn't work the same.

Tom

Deke,

I felt the same way ;D, I bought my CT22 and then this came out!  It's okay though, the CT22 is amazing and it takes care of the tasks at hand with no problem.
