On the SYS-Combi, are the 2 dividers in the lower drawer removable?
Do you know what the internal drawer height is?

[member=44099]Cheese[/member], yes, they are removable. Dimensions are under the "Specifications" tab on our website. But here they are...

Ok.  I have questions.  What's the suction compare to the other vacs?  Is there variable speed?  If not, what effect will that have on sanding performance?  Does it have auto triggering?  Basically, since I work out of a tiny 8x10 shop space, this would be the ideal only vac for me as I could also take it with me- but only if it isn't a performance compromise.  I can deal with the low capacity bag- is that the only functional difference between it and the other vacs?

Good questions.

Variable speed: The CT SYS is not equipped with variable suction force; however, the suction force is less than other CT Dust Extractors.

Auto triggering: Absolutely! It's equipped with the same receptacle socket as our other CT Dust Extractors and has both AUTO and MAN modes of operation for tool-triggered usage or manual operation for clean-up tasks.

Suction compared to other CTs: The CT SYS has less CFM (106 CFM - ~18% less than CT MINI) and Static Lift (80” - ~16% less than CT MINI) than our other CT Dust Extractors. With its compact size and increased portability, the CT SYS has suction performance that is optimal for smaller tasks.

Sanding performance: Sanding performance effects are variable. It really depends on the sander, the abrasive, and the surface. If used with an RO 150 and P80 for example, there are no issues. If used with a DTS 400 with P400 grit, the suction may be less than optimal. You can offset this by simply offsetting the paper on the backing pad so that the holes do not align perfectly and thereby restricts airflow.  Good dust extraction is all about airflow, which is why Festool sanders are designed as they are. We start the capture of dust the moment it is created.

Is a low-capacity bag the only functional difference between this and other CTs?: Essentially yes, the difference in the various dust extractors has more to do with capacity than any other point. The CT you choose depends on your needs (applications, tools, space, portability, etc).  Also, the frequency and degree of use will impact capacity choices.  How often do you need to take it out of the shop? How will transport it? If in the shop, then which tools will be used (sanders have finer dust and routers and planers make larger chips and need more capacity).

I'm pretty much using my Ridgid shopvac with my DF500 and TS55 and  I'm thinking this might be a good option as a hobbyist who works out of the garage.

HMMM, not sure if I should buy this Shane fellow or not, his profile picture is scaring me!

You're right... I should probably change it to a kitten or something.  [scared]

Curious with you guys that will be ordering this, from us or another dealer (traitors!  ;D)  --- will this be a second vac for you or your primary? And, will you be using on the jobsite or in your shop?

Also, feel free to post any questions you have right here.

5th.

On site.

I have been targeting my wife on giving her the excuse that this would be handy when we clean the house. My ct36 cleans steps better than a dyson.

I was thinking the same...

I use a CT Mini now, but only for the TLoc form factor. I don't use any festool tools, but have everything i use in Sustainers (hand tools,  other parts, cables, wall plates) I don't do any work in the field that makes a big mess and I drive a small Transit Connect, so a more compact but quality CT, especially one that will stack with my sustainers....sold.

Shane - will place my order shortly. Is it going to ship May 1st?

[member=19296]TheMarvelousOne[/member], well technically 5/1 falls on a Sunday, but it will ship first thing Monday morning.

Anybody know if the hose garage systainer will be sold separately?
It would be cool to put different size hoses in there and bring them along with my mini.

I'm sure it'll be available from Festool as a spare part, but not as a regular catalog item. The CT-SYS isn't on the US EKAT yet, so I can't see a product number or price.
