I don't know if it's recommended when using these deck clips, but the domino has three width settings. The most narrow setting makes a mortise that is a snug fit to the appropriate sized domino (or clip). Then there are two wider settings you can choose. This would allow more leeway in where the mortise was placed.

I posted on this in the other thread, they have some prices listed over there.  Like you said, the labor would be huge.  Even with oversize slots so the fits don't need to be exact, you are still cutting a million slots and that takes lots of time.  Plus no one would ever do this for the cheaper woods, people would do this with Ipe et al and those are so hard cutting the domino slots would be very slow and you would burn up at least 1 bit per deck.  

This is basically an option that only a DIY or other would use for their own deck where they are not worried about the labor.  That's a very small market.
