New Festool jigsaw model?

Hello

I have been reading this board for some time now and had to create an account to show you this:

That is the latest Finnish Festool offerings flier. The offers themselves are not that interesting (well maybe for the horrendous prices we have to pay here in Finland), but if you look at the last page there seems to be a picture of tool being used, looks like jigsaw but not like the current Festool models. At least I do not recognize the tool in question and there is a small "teaser" text that, when roughly translated, says "new for this spring..." If it really is a new jigsaw then it seems that they have completely redesigned the front end of the saw, hopefully for better visibility.

So, does anyone have any information about possible new tools coming from Festool soon? I would be especially interested in the jigsaw as I am in the market for one myself.

Thanks for posting this Mika and welcome the the Festool Owners Group forum.

It certainly does look like a new jigsaw and I will await further news with interest.  I currently have a Festool jigsaw from the generation before the Trion and have been waiting to see what the Trion replacement features before upgrading.
 
Thanks for posting this!  I have been hemming and hawing about pulling the trigger on a Trion, but the cost-benefits don't seem to outweigh the utility of my Bosch JS5.  I would like the Festool advantages (primarily the thicker blade capabilities and more power) but not for triple the price of my current JS.  So, I'll be hanging back to see if this new model comes in 2010 to the US, and if it has overcome the Trion's complained-about shortcomings.
 
Just recently bought the trion ps300.  It seems to be a good jigsaw (not used it that much yet) but the visibility is not good at all.  If this is a new model, then as Mika said i hope they have improved the visibility.

A bigger question to me---- if there is a new model, does it have a dust blower????????

This looks like it has a sliding plastic guard on the front.
 
Ahh, thanks soulspirit for stating the difference.  I was looking at that picture and (since I don't own a Trion) couldn't figure out what was better.  Now that you mention it, it does look like the guard has a sliding inset.  The item numbers are definitely different than the current jigsaws..

For those who want to droooool... look at  that Finnish catalog and go to pages 8 & 9... See the various CS modules.  Neat!
 
Yes, thank you for posting the image soulspirit, much easier for everyone to see it this way.

The price of the Trion jigsaws was lowered in Finland from 329? to 249? recently, which would indicate that Festool is trying to push the current models, maybe to clear the old stock. The latest Festool offers also include a jigsaw + CTL Midi vacuum combo set that seems a bit odd pair to me.

Well, we just have to wait and see if the new models are announced soon. At least the picture seems quite interesting, maybe Festool has some really nice new ideas in their sleeve for this one!

i would only upgrade my trion jigsaw if this new model had the blower function and L.E.D light.
otherwise its a waste of money.

i understand now, why so many people recommend the bosch model over the festool model.

My Metabo jigsaw has a sliding plastic guard on the front. After a couple of uses, the first thing I did was take it off. It became very quickly impossible to see where you're sawing.
 
I agree with Justin, I have the trion & a makita jigsaw & most of the time i go for the makita.  That little light works great.  The visibility on the festool is poor unless you remove the plastic insert from the front, then you compromise dust extraction.  I think i will take it off anyway, dust extraction is not as important on a jigsaw like a sander or router etc.

Hrrm.. that does seem simple.

Can anyone at Festool USA comment on any features/changes to the (supposed new) jigsaw vs. the current PS/PSB300?
 
I went from a 20 year old Bosch top handle to a Trion barrel grip when the Trion first came out.  My Bosch was going to have to be rebuilt, so I gave it away and bought the Trion.  I must say, the visibility issue and the lack of a blower has caused me a time or two to question whether I made the right move. I'm going to give the Trion another chance before I decide whether to sell it and buy a new Bosch or keep it.

Admittedly, I have not used the dust collection.  That may overcome the lack of a blower...I'll let you know. On the visibility issue, does anyone rely on the pointer in the chip guard?  Again, I will admit I've never installed one of the chip guards, and it was not until I read Dan's thread linked above that I realized the pointer is theoretically right on the cut line. It appears that unless you were working a very tight curve, you could rely on the splinter guard pointer.

Hi all,

I've got the information from my dealer today, its just for sellers. On the second page you can find the sale of C12 with free SYS BOX1, on the third one below the black picture of something with text, that "from April you can enjoy a lot of innovations". Is it a new accu jigsaw?

Going by the outline of that image in the PDF attached by Daniel, it is a cordless jigsaw - presumably using the new Li-Ion batteries from the T12 or T15....

If that isn't a cordless jigsaw, I don't know what is!
