[member=61590]Arp166[/member] our shipment from Festool is running a little late. We anticipate shipments should go out to customers today, tomorrow at the latest.

I’m having this continuous conversation with a friend who is constantly on my case about my Festool acquisition habits. The latest topic of our conversations is the Limited Edition Installation sets I just got. Because the sets are limited editions, and Festool focuses on making power tools, does anyone have an idea which company manufactured these hand tools? Given their high quality I’m assuming Wera or Whia, but that’s just a guess. No complaints though, they are nice sets and will be a permanent part of my workshop, just curious.

I believe that Festool indeed uses native brands when making FT branded hand tools.
Wera, Wiha and Felo is the brands that I have recognised that have been used.

I agree with an above post regarding wrench quality. I was going to buy this set for a friend for Christmas, but he happened to pick it up beforehand. I was shocked at the feel of the wrenches. The travel in the ratchet housing was crazy and (as someone who’s owned a lot of decent ratcheting wrenches) feel they are pushing the lower end of the quality spectrum. Compare with literally anything else in this price range and whatever you choose feels like a Swiss watch compared to these.

The screwdrivers seemed “fine”, but the plastic dividers and such? Just doesn’t make sense.

Are the wrenches flat or do they have an offset angle?  A flat wrench is worthless 90% of the time.  An adjustable wrench is one step above a pair of vise grips, except vise grips have other uses.  To me, an adjustable wrench is just a knuckle buster.  Allen wrenches-I probably have a couple hundred.  Now a good screwdriver is worth some money, but at these prices I will just buy Mac or Snap-on or Cromwell screwdrivers.  I really like Festool, but just don't see the value in this kit.  Despite my love for tools I am passing on this kit.

I viewed this latest offering as $225 for about $60 worth of green Kool-aid

Ah, very relevant and constructive contribution to this thread......  [embarassed]

Personally, I find it to be a fun addition, while maybe not being the highest standard in individual kit. It’s not a must for everyone, but I imagine in 2-3 years times, when the kits are no longer produced, there will be a market for people trying to get their hands on them.

I fell into the trap of "special edition" and bought one.

Sent it back.

Quality just didnt feel good.
The adjustable spanner had a good deal of slop in the moving jaw
The ratchets were coarse. I'm used to 72 teeth ratchets and these certainly weren't.
Although obvious from the listing - a lot of ratchet sizes aren't included.
The hex wrenches seemed to be plated. Of all the 100's of hex wrenches I've had - the plated ones are the softest.

It certainly wasn't worth the price and not a Festool product I would have been proud to have owned.

If anyone is interested, I thought I‘d share some more pics.

I got a European version delivered today.
As others pointed out:
- Screwdrivers - Felo 400 Series, nicely made and I like the Felo-feel
- Hex-Keys have a big „Made in Germany“ stamp, but maybe not the nicest finish, but not bad either
- Adjustable wrench feels good in hand and has a nice finish, but is slightly too loose from my viewpoint
- ratcheting wrenches, 72teeth, nice smooth finish

Thanks for sharing. Better photos does indeed reveal more.
I agree on the Felo handles, they’re good. But so is Wera and Wiha.
A little disappointed on the hex set, I’ve got Wera, Felo and some cheaper private label but still very good. These look a bit cheap. Would have thought the adjustable spanner was good, apparently not. Of all, an adjustable spanner really must not be sloppy, even for light duty.

I would go for Felo or Wiha over Wera all day, but handles are a subjective experience...

I got some PB Swiss last year and might have gotten addicted to the Swiss Grip.
But I also have a set of the Felo Slim VDE (not only slim blades, but also slim handles) and love those, too!
Too much choice. [emoji2]

Another adjustable wrench from a second set has way better tolerances. Maybe just an outlier. But I never really liked those anyway. Knipex pliers wrench is where it’s at for me...

I bought two sets for insanely cheap on a deal, so I am trying to basically sell off the second one to finance mine to a big portion, allowing me to justify keeping a set of Festool screwdrivers. [emoji23] what a fanboy I am, apparently. ;)

The „Festool“ print on the drivers is off-center on some as well. For sure this set is not worth it at a regular price.
Might have some „want“ factor for the uniqueness, but for MSRP or street prices I am sure you will find better tools for cheaper.

If anyone wants detail pictures, let me know.

Because of the excessive slop in many/most adjustable wrenches/spanners is how they earned their derogatory nickname of "adjustable hammer".  [big grin]

How did you know?  [big grin]
Of the few things Bacho has that has been really good, their high end adjustable spanners have been good. Think that’s the only one I have left, and that gets occasionally use.

Grobkuschelig, I was intrigued but this set to dedicate to wrenching and adjusting FESTOOL TOOLS. As it’s not really a “complete” set, but does seem to cover the nuts and bits on Festool tools and accessories. I planned to use the SYS for screws and just put the tools in the FT tool box. I’ve been on the fence, might jump if I find a good deal as you did.
