I am thinking about purchasing some new Festool sanders and a CT 26.  I was wondering if Festool has an annual new product release date.  I don't want to invest in Festool equipment if a newer version is coming out in 2015.  I have used my friends festool sander before but i have never bought any.  Any thoughts?

You should be safe getting the CT26, as this is a relatively recent an upgrade from (5-6? years -- someone else will have to give precise number) over the older CT22.

With the sanders, there were plans to release a brushless version of the 150/3 and 150/5 in NA this year, though I'm not sure if they're still on track.  They will be more expensive though, and given how much people like their current models of the tool, I would not be worried about obsolescence.

Thank you for the feedback.  I was wondering if Festool is to the tool world what Apple is to the technology world.  Every time i buy an Apple product a month later a newer version will come out.  Along with the CT26 i am considering a rotex and ras.  This forum has lots of helpful information.

No they're not that bad. They obviously are working on new tools and how to improve existing tools. Obviously festool can't say what they are working on. They don't bring out new tools or updated versions just fir the fun of it

James I've bought festools and they have been superseded by new models .
ive thought about upgrading a few times and the seen a post that says the old one is better so I just keep them and spend the money on something I've not got

So I'd say go for it

The apple festool thing lol there will be plenty of opinions

It seems that a large portion of German companies don't constantly update product lines for the sake of selling more product (except the automotive companies), you'll see that many Festool products are long standing and built to last. They also seem to have a good eye for providing backwards compatibility to their existing tools as well, thinking specifically of the new TXS/CXS batteries here, and also the CT MINI/MIDI T-Loc hose garage that can be retrofitted onto their older garages w/ latches for the classic systainers. I'm sure there are many more retro-upgrades that I'm not aware of. Not to mention the great parts catalog, and allowing customers to access these parts.

Refreshing change from the normal frame of mind in the US, that everything is disposable.

Disposable isn't a bad thing, particularly when it comes to disposable income....  Whenever my disposable income/A.K.A. slush fund/mad money reaches that magical amount, it's time to buy that new tool......  However, I did dispose of some DeWalt and Mikita power tools today.  My oldest son was quite glad to receive the hand-me-downs.....

Great sanding combos, the ras is like a grinder and can make difficult work a piece of cake.

In case you don't know here's some package deals from Uncle Bob:
