I see festool is comming with a LED Lite.

I'll try to translate it in english later this weekend.

Holy Moly.

168 Euro for a light!

No translation required.

That's a lot of cookies in anybodies language!

I'm really disappointed by this. Why on earth did they include a built in battery? That's just stupid. Why couldn't they make one that simply clips on a standard battery like most brands do?

I was waiting for a nice battery lamp and would have surely bought it if it was around 50 euros. This thing, I'm never ever gonna buy it. The price is ridiculous. You're mostly paying for the battery and charger which make it a really expensive item. Already got those.

I'm pretty sure this thing isn't going to be a big seller. The linked website already states they're probably not gonna sell it due to the high price.

Hi Alex.

I do not understand the Dutch language, but at the bottom of the page it says something about external batteries 12 - 18 Volts.

Could you explain what that particular sentence states?

Thanks, Justin.

Sure Justin, it means that you can also run the lamp on standard Festool batteries from 12 to 18 volt. It comes with an internal battery plus charger but you can also connect all Festool batteries except that of the CXS.

I'll give you a run down of the specs:

Power 6 x 3 Watt LED
Internal battery  7,2 V 2,2 Ah Li-Lon
Recharge time 2 hours
Light duration with internal battery:
Level 1 about 1,5 hours
Level 2 about 4 hours
Comes with a charger for 240v and one for 12-24v car socket
Accepts an external battery of 12-18v
Hook size 400 mm
Screw thread ¼ "(6,35 mm) to mount it on a tripod
Size H / B / D 150 / 100 / 80 mm
Weight 0,67 Kg

It seems this thing is more meant as a small building site lamp than the torch light we see with so many other brands.

Site lamp is right!! Six 3 watt LEDs should be incredibly bright. Far more than any LED flashlight I am aware of.

Oke, here it is... google translate is not that good so I improved it..

I think I'm going to like this lamp, except for the price!

We will probably not deliver him. (this Festool supplier has a lot of trouble with festool because they deliver it below the I (illegal) fixed Festools selling price, they are always a lot cheaper :-))
.... but we do want to inform of the latest info!
All that stuff is always mysterious, but not here :-)

What does festool think:
Excellent light output: 6 high-power LEDs for white light and excellent colour reproduction. With big on and off switch. 2 positions intense or dimmed so you're not blinded when working.
Made for on location: Enclosure of unbreakable, shockproof and impact resistant aluminium, the handle is heat insulated to protect the user and to protect the lamp and it is wireless.
Flexible settings: Every side another angle for scattering light, integrated universal hook to hang the lamp base and has a hole for tripod mounting.
Maximum uptime: By Integral Li-Ion Battery with various loading options.
170 ° wide angle: Relieves dark areas in the workplace and homogeneous illumination. The casing is used as a reflector surface. By comparison, a standard flashlight 5 ° and 30 ° for working lights.
Up to 6 hours of light enjoyment: All Festool and Protool batteries can also be connected for a longer burn time for the internal battery.

Delivery:
Festool SYSLITE-LED Lamp
-230 V AC adapter
-Car Charger
-Bag

PS I love this site because they know what they are talking about and they say what they think.
Like the TS55 is a worthless saw and it’s true!!! (I got the Mafell MT55 of course!)

Thanks Alex and Tiezme for taking the time to translate.

It is a nice accessory, is it worth the price?

Justin.

So it's a LED flashlight, albeit a great one, and you have to ask if it's worth the price at $200+?

Its called sarcasm Julian.
Of course it's not worth the bloody price.
But eventually they will sit on a shelf for a few years collecting dust, and then the price will drop during a special promotion.
I have seen this happen with several obscure Festool/Protool products.

Justin.

what other lights are out there in the same form factor? it sounds expensive but i have paid more than that for my surefire.

Just something to think about in general, LED's are manufactured in varying qualities and output.  That's one of the reasons for such a wide range of prices in LED flashlights.

I am going to agree with Ken on this rare occasion  [scared]  [big grin].  I would virtually guarantee that the led's are Luxeon or Cree.  Festool does not put their name on something that is sub par.  The light spread - almost 180 degrees, and the electronic drivers for this application add up quickly.  Then you have the various electrical charging capabilities and then the ability to us the Festool batteries;  this puppy is expensive to produce.

It may not be for everyone, but it is an option.

Anything that doesn't heat up like those quartz work lights but puts out as much light would be a welcome addition.
I wonder how many lumens this thing puts out?
Tim

If you want massive light output look at the Streamlight litebox series. Under $200, rechargeable, adjustable head and light levels. Downside is the weighs a lot. The firebox is much lighter but slightly less versatile. The festool light would really have to rock for me to buy non-Strreamlight. Looked at a Surefire infrared flashlight the other day. Interesting, almost bought it but have no idea what I'd do with it.

Tim you bring up the same two things I was thinking.

I agree a good LED light is not cheap to produce. I have moved to Surfire for all of my flashlights. They are expensive but produce some of the best flashlight in the industry.
