New Festool Tools 2014

£30.50 seems a little steep. For some reason, the brain says $22.50 per Auszug is tops.

We have to add 20% tax to those prices too... Still seems ok in my books, saves me time sourcing the parts and making them  [cool]

Kev

That's about £3000. For a hundred of them

That's a lot of actual tools

It certainly is. I could imagine them being priced well over $60 locally if the current importer excesses continue.

I'll probably pass on these!

I'm interested in the drawer slides, for starters I speculate I could use empty sys 1's and sys 2's with compartments for small tools and consumables instead of using going with sortainers, and perhaps a sys 1 toolbox. set it up in a rolling cabinet with handle for use both in the workshop and on site. For the bigger tools like the TS75, or Domino, or Routers I would just use a Sysroller.. I'll need to source some lackey's to roll out the gear to the jobs, but I think if I put some blinking lights on the cases and the sysroll I can get them to believe it's fun to cart my gear around for me and they will do it for free...

For dark Scandinavian working conditions in the winter season I think I could use at least 3 of the new syslites... ;D

I wish those drawer slides would hurry up and make it to NA.  I am ready to build my MFT cart.  Wonder if those Sys-AZs come with installation directions.  If I knew the proper dimensions, I could go ahead and build the cart to suit the Sys-AZs.

Shane, can you find out if those dimensions above are what I need to properly space the sides of the cart for those drawer slides?

Yes, I have them. Post them in a few.

Thanks a ton, Shane!  I hope Festool knows how much you do for us and how quick you are to respond.  I've never seen anything like it, anywhere else.

I think I have a reputation within the company, even abroad. I just try to help you guys out like I would want to be helped. With that guiding principle, that's how I roll.  [wink] But, thanks. I appreciate the accolades.

Drawer Dimension (L x D x H)
396 x 296 x 105 mm

Max. load
20 kg

I can't post the actual document because it's for internal use only, but here are some images that should help you with the dims for box construction. I saw in a photo from somewhere what appeared to be better instructions that actually come with the drawers. Maybe one of our European friends can post a copy, or I'll see if I can get it in PDF format. This is the best I can do right now.

You'll notice this is base 32mm.

That is a cool document even if for building your own SysPort. Thank you very much for that!

I didn't say NAINA, I said no current ETA.  [wink]

We'll get them, just not sure when.

The price seems decent when you consider that some online retailers discount accessories at 28%. That takes the set down to £103 for 5. I'd be in at that price.

Ha ha

We need the LR 32 system to use them ,I knew they was beginning to sound too good to be true lol

It won't stop us though

BWHAHAHAHA!  [tongue]

In reality, aren't projects the reason we justify buying new tools anyway? Just remember to calculate a cabinet big enough for all of your tools PLUS the LR32 Systainer.  [wink]

Look at all those edges .. a cabinet like that is going to need a lot of edge banding !

Good point.

And, a Conturo.

Plus, a TS, sander and an OF 1010 router, if you don't have them.

So that it's not overlooked. Please make sure you note that the first set of holes for mounting need to be a minimum of 8mm from the bottom of the cabinet. More if your cabinet will have a face frame. Face frame thickness + at least 8mm.

I think that the new Syslite will be a winner not only with the normal community but also the photographers. That slight change to colour temperature could make it an interesting fill light and that fixing accessory will be useful.

Eh... no. LED light is in the same category as CFL light; ugly! The color temperature doesn't say anything about even spectrum coverage. A normal flash will be more powerful with less weight and for less $$. Without the ugliness of LED lighting. For holding flash units at odd places we have light stands and gorilla clamps. Don't forget the 1/4" tread either on a lot of photography stuff; you can go crazy with that to mount stuff at all kinds of weird places.

No you don't, but it really is a nice set though  [tongue] Just a shame the "pin" that goes into the rail is 1/3 mm too long on mine. Next time I use the set again, that pin is going to meet the bench grinder
