I think I have a reputation within the company, even abroad. I just try to help you guys out like I would want to be helped. With that guiding principle, that's how I roll.  [wink] But, thanks. I appreciate the accolades.

Drawer Dimension (L x D x H)
396 x 296 x 105 mm

Max. load
20 kg

I can't post the actual document because it's for internal use only, but here are some images that should help you with the dims for box construction. I saw in a photo from somewhere what appeared to be better instructions that actually come with the drawers. Maybe one of our European friends can post a copy, or I'll see if I can get it in PDF format. This is the best I can do right now.

You'll notice this is base 32mm.

Look at all those edges .. a cabinet like that is going to need a lot of edge banding !
[size=14pt]
And who better to supply it, do I detect a Submission to the Commonwealth Government for export assistance here Kev!  [big grin]

I think that the new Syslite will be a winner not only with the normal community but also the photographers. That slight change to colour temperature could make it an interesting fill light and that fixing accessory will be useful.

Eh... no. LED light is in the same category as CFL light; ugly! The color temperature doesn't say anything about even spectrum coverage. A normal flash will be more powerful with less weight and for less $$. Without the ugliness of LED lighting. For holding flash units at odd places we have light stands and gorilla clamps. Don't forget the 1/4" tread either on a lot of photography stuff; you can go crazy with that to mount stuff at all kinds of weird places.

I met a professional photographer at a woodworking show last year. He was near the Festool stand and we got talking about things photographic. He told me that he had 10 Syslites which he used in his studio to create various effects and fill. He said that they work well for video work and so I would like to give it a try.

Well, don't know how cheap slides you can get, but I pay 28€ for a pair of Accuride 400mm slides so 36€ for a slide pair & the custom shelf/handle doesn't sound too bad...

Good Morning

I have UK RRP's for you.

I'm not sure what is included in the set, but we have a meeting with Frank from Festool tomorrow to get all our questions answered.

Best regards

Warren

I'm pleasantly surprised by that pricing. With the discounts that Festool retailers are generally giving these days, you should be able to pick them up for £30-35 a time (inc. VAT).

When you consider that a decent set of runners will set you back £20-25 for the pair, that's actually pretty good IMHO.

Umm don't know where you get your draw runners from  but decent 600mm deep soft close draw runners with weight 35kg I can get for £8 a pair

£20-£24  I'll be looking at some heavy duty runners or the Blum tandem.

Looking at the festool runners they look like cheap runners to me  less than £8 a pair in my opinion you are paying for the plastic shelve really.

I would like to have them but paying £140 for 5 draws  when I can get  17pairs of decent draw runners for same price.    I always end up with plywood spare from jobs more than big enough for shelves .  So I don't think I will be buying them at that price.

Video of the 600mm runners I used when I built this oak shoe room abit ago.

They fully extend and are soft close they feel well made for £8 a pair.

What brand and model are those runners?

I can't remember I'll have to get back to you a bit later on.  I have have 8 spare from that job I over ordered oops!  Doesn't mater at that price though.

To compare apple to apples, are soft close runners comparable to the Sys-AZ?  The Sys-AZ are self-locking.  So, at least use a push to open or some other type of locking drawer slide when comparing prices.

Locking runners can be important on a rolling cart.  Without locking runners, the drawers can fly open as you move the cart around.

I think the debate of price vs. value could wage on endlessly. It's really up to each person to decide if it's a worthwhile option. And, as was mentioned, these aren't just drawer slides. They include the drawer itself, a locking mechanism, can be labeled, are made to fit nearly all Classic and T-LOC Systainers, etc. Some people will appreciate this solution, others will continue to use off-the-shelf drawer slides and build their own.

Am I missing something or being dumb?

Those dimensions for the drawer are for a single height Systainer????

There's an illustration showing how far apart to space the drawers depending on the Systainer size (height).

That bit makes sense Shane. It was the other previous info including the first PDF that appeared in the thread. The dimensions refer to a Sys 1.

Good point.

And, a Conturo.

Plus, a TS, sander and an OF 1010 router, if you don't have them.

Yes, how about that Conturo?  I successfully staved off the temptation to purchase the Adamik at the IWF this year but, I can't hold out much longer.  I also suppressed purchasing vacuum pods.  Still waiting.

Tell the rest of the world to stop buying so many of them and we'll get it sooner! [mad]

It's coming, try to be patient.
