KIWI ???

Aussie yes...... Kiwi No!

WOW .... thats like calling you Canadian.

as for small Vehicles, well mines small.  A small Little VW Van that i call the Tardis because it's amazing the amount of stuff i keep fitting into it.  An if i make some new shelves and slip a bunch of those new SYS-AZ's into it i reckon i could squeeze a bit more in when needed.

Funny lets not mention last weekends rugby score then [big grin]

To compare apple to apples, are soft close runners comparable to the Sys-AZ?  The Sys-AZ are self-locking.  So, at least use a push to open or some other type of locking drawer slide when comparing prices.

Locking runners can be important on a rolling cart.  Without locking runners, the drawers can fly open as you move the cart around.

Same runners which are soft close can be push to lock/unlock but you cant have both on same runners.    Be nice having soft close and lock but I haven't found any which are a hybrid

This may be a really stupid idea, but could you buy a few sets of each and then mix and match, i.e. a soft close on one side and a lock on the other? To best utilize all of your slides you'd have to alternate which side was which...

LOL well these type of runners are not handed so doesn't mater which side they go.

I'm assuming you are having a joke.

If not it wouldn't work the side which would soft close wouldn't be strong enough to pull to draw in to force the other side to lock.  Its a good push required to lock.

My mate has a set in his van push Lock/unlock runners.  His were more money because his pull out 110% and are 60kg weighted I think.

Well that's very disappointing - a screen grab from the second of those docs:

[attachimg=1]

I assume the diagram highlighted in red means it's not designed for use in vehicles! Very poor. I'd be curious why not though, presumably the potential for extra stress if the vehicle is bouncing about?

I'm sure many people will use them in vehicles, but Festool won't warrant them...

Just saw the prices for the new tools at my favorite Festool dealer and I can tell that I'm in no immediate need to even think of upgrading my ETS150/3 or Fein Multimaster to the Vecturo... Holy Smokes!

ETS 150/3 EQ-Plus retails @ 333€ vs.
ETS EC 150/3 EQ-Plus @ 571€

FEIN SuperCut Edition Wood FSC 2.0 Q in systainer retails @ 389€ vs.
Vecturo OS 400 EQ-Plus @ 473€ (Set with the plunge base 654€)

If I didn't have the Multimaster already the price difference to the Vecturo isn't that bad, but its not worth upgrading in my use - about once a year - but how the heck did the sander almost double in price over night!?!

Maybe they don't need abrasive sheets any more and just have a built in tractamorphic sanding face that can vary the grit size dynamically. [eek]

The hose sleeve MSRP is 162 pounds. Now that's expensive!

And I saw a post somewhere that said it was for 27/32 mm hoses, but that's a typo- it should be 27/22mm hoses.

Pretty sure the new tapered hose is 32/27. As opposed to the old one that was 27/22.

I think that the new Syslite will be a winner not only with the normal community but also the photographers. That slight change to colour temperature could make it an interesting fill light and that fixing accessory will be useful.

Eh... no. LED light is in the same category as CFL light; ugly! The color temperature doesn't say anything about even spectrum coverage. A normal flash will be more powerful with less weight and for less $$. Without the ugliness of LED lighting. For holding flash units at odd places we have light stands and gorilla clamps. Don't forget the 1/4" tread either on a lot of photography stuff; you can go crazy with that to mount stuff at all kinds of weird places.

I don't know what kind of speed lights I can get (good ones anyway) for less than $200.  Last year I spent over $2000 on Canon's RT system; I picked up 4 600EX-RTs and their ST-E3-RT.

Power isn't always everything… there are times when even at 1/128th, I wish I could lower the output by 1/3 stop.

Also, with color, that's not an issue either, so as long as ALL of the light sources output the SAME color at the given output.

Ugliness?  You'll have to elaborate on that.  With lighting, the only things that matter are intensity, direction, and shape, all others can be corrected in post; even the three I mentioned can be corrected.

I met a professional photographer at a woodworking show last year. He was near the Festool stand and we got talking about things photographic. He told me that he had 10 Syslites which he used in his studio to create various effects and fill. He said that they work well for video work and so I would like to give it a try.

Peter

I don't usually use constant light in my photography except obviously the sun.  There are times (i.e. ring shots and such) that I do use constant LED lighting.

Now, if Festool willing, I'd be more than happy to give my two cents on the topic in the forum of a review.  One thing Festool that I may be able to speak intelligently about, from a different perspective any way!  [big grin]

I wouldn't mind having a SYSLite or two, or three, or four in my (camera) bag!

Video of the 600mm runners I used when I built this oak shoe room abit ago.

They fully extend and are soft close they feel well made for £8 a pair.

Funny, I expected you to be more of a work boot/shoe type of guy. Oh well..... [poke] [poke] [doh]    [big grin]

Hi Seth, There is a 27-22mm (500277) and a 32-22mm (500278) and both are optimised for sanding operations (due to the 22mm taper). I understand that these are the bees knees and will be popular in both woodworking and automotive trades as it saves wear on the hose and does not catch on the work piece or anything near it.

The only tapered hose I know of sold in NA is like the one that now comes on the CT MINI & CT MIDI, 499742. It is a 32mm-to-27mm x 3.5m AS hose with a right-angle connector at the CT.

Hi Tom

The part numbers that I gave are on the European Festool web sites. Just put the part number in the search box and it will take you to the right page.

Peter

Ok, built 6 double (Sys 3 x2) boxes so need 12 of these babies.... No pressure to get here NA!!!!!!!!
