New Festool TS Promotion -Yeah Baby!

I think my Alzheimer's is kicking in.

I could have sworn JohnDistai posted an innocuous reply in this thread regarding the combining of promotions. But it seems that comment is gone without a trace. I see no explanation from a moderator as to why it was removed, which is customary on many forums in such cases.

The forum rules state content may be removed if it "encourages unauthorized, unsafe or illegal activity". I don't see how a comment about a legal promotion is "unauthorized, unsafe or illegal activity".

Toolfest,

My thinking is that if a post is removed by a Moderstor, they would state it as such - 'REMOVED FOR XYZ REASON". Perhaps, John D removed it himself?

Bob

Bob, I also assumed a moderator would first, acknowledge that a post had been deleted and second, state the reason for deleting it.  JohnDistai posted that he did not delete his own post.  I find these tactics troubling.

Hmmm....Censorship....Price Fixing...and for some reason I have a few thousand dollars in grey ABS plastic boxes sitting in my truck.

Where's my tinfoil hat!

All joking aside I agree that is rather surreptitious.

Inner10.
"All joking aside I agree that is rather surreptitious."

Surreptitious... great word Inner10, very fitting.

There was a post that somehow was deleted.  That post did not violate any rules of the Forum and currently I am attempting to bring it back into this thread.  I apologize that I did not notice earlier that it had not already made it back into the thread.  None of us knowing or intentionally deleted this post.

In case I muck up the attempt, JohnDistai posted on: March 16, 2010, 12:42:36 PM EDT  in the thread Re: New Festool TS Promotion -Yeah Baby! the following:

"Couple this with the Bing Cashback and we're talking serious savings!"

The missing post has been merged back into this thread in its chronological place.

I was thinking about the deleted post in the middle of the night.  I have, after looking at something, think that it is possible that I may have accidentally been the one to delete it unknowingly.  I didn't even think about that possibility until I posted earlier in this thread this morning about trying to move the post back and hoping that I didn't muck up.

A little bit of history might be in order.  When Forrest and I became moderators we asked not to have the ability to remove posts because of past activities and claims on the forum.  Unfortunately we found out that by not having that ability, there were times when spam or other objectionable material appeared on the forum, it stayed too long.  We asked for the ability to remove posts after we were more comfortable with our roles, and our request was granted.  A feature was custom coded that would insert a message into the deleted post that would insert who deleted the post.  That wasn't necessary when only one person had the ability to delete someone else's posts.  We have deleted very few posts since that time.

When I am not in my office, I do use my iphone to check the forum at various times of the day.  I looked at my iphone just now and fear that there is a possibility that in scrolling thru the thread using my right thumb with the iphone held in the landscape mode, the  remove button might have been accidentally hit while scrolling.  If I were quickly scrolling and the confirmation screen came up at just the right time, it might have been clicked so fast I didn't realize that I confirmed.  I did a test this morning, and deleted a test post using the iphone and there was a confirmation screen and the deleted by message was inserted.  The post removed yesterday did not have a message saying who deleted it.  There are other examples of that in the recycle bin.  It could be that the code to delete a post exists in many places in the forum software and just the right event has to happen to not have a message inserted.

None of us intentionally deleted that post.  I don't know for a fact that I did, but based on the situation and the fact that I know I looked at the thread while taking a break yesterday on my iphone, I feel that the possibility that I was the one to accidentally remove the post has the most credance.

Please believe me that this thought didn't come to me until just a little while ago and accept my apologies for something that I now fear may have been a total accident on my part that unfortunately has raised suspicions on the forum.

That's the one.  It is the 5 meter rail.

It's 16' 5".  With my 20' trailer I am not worried about hauling it, I am just worried at the shipping cost right now.

That long rail would be the ticket for trimming deck boards before I add a border around the outside.

I could also rip a lot of the exterior trim I use with that rail.

My only fear is I know how careless I am sometimes with things and I can see myself doing something
dumb and having a banana rail. [big grin]

Darcy.

I considered getting the 16' 5" rail.
I ended up getting 2 of the 106" rails & joining them when I need to cut 16' material.
The 2 rails are easier to transport & the rails can be combined with shorter rails to make lengths between 106" & 197'.

I thought about getting the 106" because of not having to be truck shipped.
My only problem is I don't think it is quite long enough for me though.

106 is just enough to rip a sheet of ply with my 55.  Near impossible with the 75 (just in case I ever get one).
That rail couldnt handle a n angle across a sheet corner to corner.

I could get two 118" but, then you are back to truck shipping.  Then I would need more connectors as well. [crying]

It's a Catch-22.

Shoot.  I just bought a TS55, OF1400, and CT22 in one shot last week.  While I'm happy to be a new Festool owner, it would have been nice to see this one coming  [unsure]

This has been talked about on this forum for about a month now, sorry you missed out. Welcome to the forum.
Thanks very much for the welcome.  Unfortunately I just found this place right after I made the purchase but I'm going to talk to my dealer here to see what I can do.  I'm still waiting for the CT22 to arrive anyway so perhaps I'll be in luck.  I planned to buy an extra rail and maybe the parallel guides too so there is hope.

Tom
Just to follow up, my local Woodcraft dealer gladly made this right today.  Of course, I spent the refunded promo money and more on some clamps, guide bushings, and a Dust Deputy  [unsure]
