@@%$@$!@# !!!

I just spent a small fortune on festool gear and now there's all new better stuff coming out!!??  I can't tell you how angry that makes me.

There is not 'all' new stuff coming out, just a couple of tools. And unfortunately for Americans, not even all tools are available in America yet, like the CTL26/CTL36 this article talks about.

But the buzz about these new tools is out for months already. The one thing before buying expensive gear I always do, and advice others to do, is to do research. Go to stores, talk to dealers, look on the internet, on forums like this, and you'll learn a lot about the pro's and con's of a new purchase.

And as far as the new tools go, I think only the new Carvex jigsaw might bring something new to the table. For the rest, there's really not that much difference.

I just bought a 33 this week.  I hate it when I am a model behind right after buying something at full price. [sad]

Guys, arrival of the new vacs in the US has been discussed here before. The word from Festool is we aren't going to see them in the immediate future. Sounds like at least six, it could very well be longer. I think Alex is right on, do your research. We, in the States often have to wait a year or more for the new tools so it's no surprise if you do your research.

The upshot is the current model vacs are outstanding tools so there is no reason to be disappointed with them.

Some members might take the above at face value and therefore assume you are being serious, whilst others will think you are joking.

To save a *lot* of misunderstanding, can you indicate whether you are being serious or joking?

Forrest

I'm quite serious.  I obviously don't blame Festool, it's just my stinking luck.  I don't have money to be upgrading these types of tools and having a whole new system coming out just after I buy is extremely aggravating.  I could have waited to buy.

Guys, as a recent Trion buyer ( decent tool BTW, be it not exactly on par with my other Festool tools ) I can somewhat relate to your aggravation but then again: have you ever bought a computer, cellphone, MP3 player or digital SLR ?
It's called progress, and if you want to make sure you won't be experiencing this kind of buyers remorse, just don't buy....

Or do as Alex says, and do your homework beforehand. I mean, it's not like it was a secret was it?
I don't mean to be rude, but the way you guys put it, it's like Festool's to blame for developing new products - that doesn't stick.

The CTL22 or -33 is a superb tool. You'll love it. Enjoy your purchase, and do your homework whenever it's time to replace it. Decent DC is a central point in the Festool "system" but the system doesn't revolve around one tool, let alone around one generation of a tool.
Use it, it'll work as advertised and you'll love it. Enjoy!

Regards,

Job

Hello pprior.
I have sold several Festool tools when new models came out. My experience is that if there is the "normal" price increase for the new model, I can resell my current tool for 80-100% of what I paid - especially if there have been price increases over time like there has been. I do keep my tools in near perfect condition as they are used in my shop - hobby use.
