New festool ?

The way I look at it is when any new releases do come out the first place you will hear about them will be on the FOG. This will give you plenty of time to ebay your old models (for a good price) before the masses know a new model is on the way. I had reservations about buying my Kapex in case a new model came out, that was 3 years ago. I would not be surprised if a new Kapex came out but sure the current OF220 router will be around for a long time yet.

Of course there is plenty of time. You can eBay a 10 year old Festool and still get a mighty fine price.

I agree with Doug.

While tools are selling well and they have a premium image over the majority of the market you will probably see Festool focusing on new products not yet in their range and addressing the slow movers. The U.S. market is a strategic driver for them these days and something like a decent cordless recipro would shift a lot of units instantly.

I'd love it if they introduced a compact spiral head thicknesser in a Sys5 format !! and while I'm dreaming, a proper table saw module for a larger format CMS GE.

Anyway, if anything, maybe the KAPEX could get a couple of surprise running upgrades.

I think a lot of people try to second guess Festool, when it comes to buying a new Kapex, because of the large investment.  I asked my local rep directly before I made the purchase.
Last year there were rumours of a new model coming out because of the Kapex sale in NA. In Aus the price of the Kapex went down by $100, hence more rumours there must be a new model coming out.
I believe that the Kapex is in a class of its own as a 2nd fix mitre saw and yeah a few improvements wouldn't hurt but can't see the urgency for a new model, just my opinion.

Agreed, there are many things I'd buy before I replace my exiting KAPEX with an upgraded version if one came out ... unless it had green lasers - then I'd have to get it [wink]
