New Fireplace/Media centre

Just completed new fireplace mantel and media centre. Doors on cabinets are perforated to allow for remotes to access the equipment. Speakers are hidden in cabinets. All that is needed is to paint the walls and ceiling. Before and after photos.

Excellent!!!  That really came out well.  How long did that job take you?

looks good. The only thing i would change would be to try to center the corbels over the panels under the mantle but can see with the profile on the mantle it wasnt possible without changing the mantle design. What kind of finish and did you do the finishing yourself?

The client got a high end kitchen company from Germany to design and build a custom hearth surrounding her cook top and for the large air vent above the cooktop and they wanted me to make the fireplace mantel to match the hearth. They actually gave me the crown moulding I used on the mantel which is identical to the hearth in the kitchen. They wanted the hearth and the fireplace treatment to look the same. I see your point on the corbels, but I had no choice as the crown moulding does not wrap around. It would have interfered with the shelves. As well the fireplace is over 10 years old which I had to restore. As for the finishing,I did do myself and everything was hand painted with Benjamin Moore Advance paint. Sanding with 320 grit between coats ( 4 in total ) and a final buffing on the final coat with 600 grit paper. It was a lot of work but it looks great and the client is very happy.

From start to finish it took me about 3 weeks. The finishing took the longest as it was all done by hand.

And so they should. From here that finish looks great! Almost iridescent.

BTW, just curious, how wide are the bookcases?

Bookcases are 38.5" each, fireplace unit is 66". 55" TV is flush with the front of the unit. Did not want it to look like a painting on the wall.

yeah it just caught my eye right away but could tell it wouldnt work to centre. looks very nice well done
