I love the new 3,1 Ah battery, good work Festool. Every tool have become much more well balanced, and of course lighter. The rubber covering also keeps the T 18 and BHC 18 more steady when you put them down, and looks better.

The whole Airstream idea feels like a complete fail. There's a reason computers are becoming fanless, and lighter. Who wants to listen to that? Who needs to charge that fast? I had an Airstream charger for 10 seconds, then passed it on to electronics heaven.

Btw, hello my Festool friends! 😊

Hi!

Could you maybe post a link to the PDF? you posted the screen-caps of?

I guess with the 6.2 Ah AS Batteries run time of the TSC 55 will be downright mind blowing. I too would like to know if the 3.1 Ah batteries can be used with the TSC.

And I sure would love to know more about the new LED light  [big grin] [big grin]

Kind regards,
Oliver

The 3.1ah battery's are already available here in the uk, as I've got two and do help allot with weight of tool and bulkyness especially ehen used in the pdc drill as its quite big and bulky anyway.

I kind of guessed that there would be a bigger battery coming to the market as Festool at the moment run a promotion where a free 5.2ah battery is given with certain sets. If I remember correctly a promotion of the same was around with the 4.2ah battery. Soon after this promo the 5.2ah came out.

Regarding the light that looks very good and looks like it's got the most basic of function - a 'SWITCH'. It's quite frankly unbelievable that the syslite duo does not have a on/off switch. It's a fantastic light but I will not buy one as there's no switch to turn on and off let alone dim the light level as on the kal lights, hope this one can be dimmed as sometimes there is the case of too much light.

On the battery list I see a compact 3.1 18v. Will that run the TSC55?

Seth

Hi
....nope the 3.1aH will not run the TSC or the HKC......but all other 18v it will and makes a huge difference to the handling and charge time.

Kind of makes sense given how most saws gobble battery power if used a fair amount.

Lighter = more expensive. And fanless is usually done with a system that can't sustain it's normal clockspeed because of thermal throttling. Or with the Apple's; the keyboard and palmrest is used as a heatsink...

What happens if i put two 3,1 Ah batteries in a TSC 55 then? Will it not start at all? I've been thinking of getting the TSC 55, but I only use 3,1 Ah batteries and would very much like to keep it that way.

Hmmmm, I thought it might since the 3.0 15v will.

This is what happens when you try to start a TSC 55 with two new fully charged 3,1 Ah batteries. It just wont start at all. The Festool salesman warned me the batteries would probably run out quickly, but apparently had no idea these products does not work together.

Will have to get a clumsier battery and another TCL 6 then. No worries...

Thanks for checking and confirming. I think that's odd. Must be something to do with battery tech. I will have to double check my 15v LiOn. Maybe I only  thought they were 3.0.

. And the plot thickens.... [poke]

I confirmed that I am running the TSC55 with two 15v 3.0 aH batteries.

Interesting......................................

Seth

It's not uncommon for batteries with higher densities (Wh / m^3) to have a lower maximum safe current threshold (W / m^3). For warranty and product-life I think this was a wise decision of Festool.

I just verified that both of my 15V 3.0aH batteries will power up my HKC.

The 15V 3.0aH and 4.2aH batteries run the HKC at the same RPM, while the 18V 5.2aH batteries spin the HKC at maybe 300-500 RPM faster.
