NEW lightmodule for OF1010 R

In a Facebook thread, an employee of Festool US confirmed the light module will be available separately later this year.

This is my conspiratorial side speaking, but if they made the light module fit both the 1010EQ and 1010REQ routers, they would:

a) give up sales of new REQ models

and

b) have to find a different reason/excuse not to import the light modules separately to the North American market, because the demand would be huge.

Ya I'm in your camp.  [smile]  Now, I've not yet disassembled the battery module to see the battery space constraints Festool was up against, however...if I were a betting person, I'd bet hard cash that they had enough space available to make this or some other form of this battery module fit the existing space of the older 1010 EQ.

This does remind me of the ETS EC 125 pad vs the ETS EC 150 pad conundrum several years ago.  [sad]

Which then brings up the question of, is this marketing strategy one of the ways they can support further research and design changes in their product line? Festool being a privately held entity may or may not have access to the large cash streams that are necessary for tool improvements and new tool development. The CSC-SYS 50 was started in 2014 and was finally brought to fruition and offered as a product in 2023...that's 9 years of having to continually dip in to the till to sustain nothing more than an idea.

If that's the case, I guess I'm ok with that angle as long as the extra $$ are being spent on R&D for existing products and new products and not on new AMG 63 E's and Maybach's.

Thanks the same Cheese  [big grin]
It’s just too much I need to sort and get going with during summertime..

Though, I have enjoyed the LED module a lot.
And as suggested it isn’t too hard to make two wires that could extend the battery unit to another location.

Anyone trying: RC model shops usually carry silicone wires, connectors in almost any size and flavour - most if not all, in high quality. It’s needed for high amp draws as well as durability, handling and aesthetics. Bring the module and tell the staff what you are making, and they will come up with something.
