Hi everyone. I decided it's time to partake in the forum - I've been following the FOG daily for a couple of years now, so I feel it's time.

My name is David and I live in Copenhagen, Denmark. I have been a hobbyist since my teens, but about six months ago I started an apprenticeship as a carpenter. At the age of 31 I finally gave in and started to turn pro. It's going to take me a couple of years as an apprentice - which is about half the time it normally takes to become a carpenter. In Denmark you can get a lot of credit if you have previous education - which I do.

Anyway - a few years ago I wanted to start buying some proper tools - and I spent a looong time researching brands etc. I went with Festool - and as such, I was a powertool virgin when I took the plunge. It has its plusses and minuses, but overall I am super pleased with the brand. Especially now in my apprenticeship where I get to work with a lot of other brands - I suddenly realize how lucky I am with my private tools. I guess there's a lot you take for granted when you start with a high quality brand.

So, I live in a one-bedroom apartment with my girlfriend - and she is amazingly overbearing with the growing number of Systainers. I've built a bed frame with storage drawers - to a bespoke high of a sys-4. Ingenious. Except the drawers are now full. Meh - we're planning to move of the city soon anyways.

That's a little about me. I would like to thank you all for participating in this great place - and for teaching me so many things. I imagine that there are many guys and girls like me around the world - gaining knowledge from all of you.

David

Hej David,

Welcome to the FOG. Truly a nice forum where tips and tricks are shared widely by pro's and the less pro's like my self  [big grin]

I'm also a Dane though a bit far from 'home'.

[welcome]

Love the Festools under the bed .. was your girlfriend aware of your agenda while you were making it? [big grin]

Not quite,  Kev, so it was more like a "wow,  look how perfect these grey boxes fit in our new bed!"

Hi Dave, Welcome to the forum!  A very nice introduction.  Cheers!

[welcome] to the Forum!!!!  Good luck with your projects and your business.

[member=38633]David Pepke[/member] - we stayed in a small flat in Christianshavn down from knipplesbro bridge and near the metro square.. The whole place was nice.

[member=13058]Kev[/member] - Have you watched Borgen on SBS? Now the reruns are late on Saturday night I think?? or on SBS on-demand.
Then this Thursday night SBS has a Scandinavian food series and starts at Noma which is also in Chistianshanv-Copenhavn. The barstards were closed when we wanted to go.

[member=40772]Holmz[/member] no I haven't I'll hunt it down  [smile]

I'll get some pictures of the Bedsys soon.

[member=40772]Holmz[/member] - yeah, Christianshavn is a great neighbourhood. Would love a house boat there - but for now I settle with a quiet kayak trip through the canals...

I may be mistaken, but I think NoMa closed in Copenhagen. I think they opened in Sydney - and their Tokio locations is supposedly doing really well.

Anyhow - if anyone is contemplating a visit, I'll be happy to show you around. I know all of the Festool locations around here:-)

Here's how we transport our tools in Copenhagen (when the sun shines and I only need one Systainer = rarely)
