hi guys a newbie here, well kind of. Ive been browsing the site now for about 6 months as i was interested in festool tools in general as ive never owned any and thought it was only right that i joined up because as of yesterday iam the new owner of a festool ts55 with splinter guard, 2x1400 rails, rail connectors, 2x rail clamps and a lovely festool bag for my rails. All i can say is its amazing  ;D ;D ;D its just a pleasure too get nice perfect cuts.
A little bit about me ,Im a self employed joiner in glasgow,im only 23. primary is finishing joinery and do a lot of kitchens but do 1st fix and roofs aswell, cover everything really. still learning, everyday is a school day lol. would love too get into high class finishings but just dont seem too get the chance up here its get in and get out as fast as you can attitude [blink]. Anyway looking forward too chatting too you guys

[welcome] to the fog. you will love it here
well done on the ts55. you will love it.
thats the problem , now you have started slipping down the slope youll want a vac, then a long rail, then a sander , etc.
the problem with festool (and lots of other tools) is it is like climbing a mountain, you think your there but once you reach that goal you realise there is another bit farther to go.

[eek]oh no not another 1, we have enough on trying to understand woodguys accent never mind another 1.
[welcome]

Good to welcome another Scott. Never mind Dean, he has cloth ears  [tongue] Dean, get the 3m track, you won't regret it.
The better jobs will come soon enough, just make sure you charge enough for them as they do take longer.

A word to the wise, the Brits all tend to rip the preverbal p... Out of each other so best to have thick skin  ;D
JMB might try to give you a bit of stick but it's ok, Ken Nagrod keeps him in check  [thumbs up]

Very slippery slope you are on, hold on tight !

no idea what you just said. must speak more clearly

i will get the 3m rail just need to built rack in van to suit and cut hole in bulkhead to suit too

I never take my 3m rail out the workshop.  Like you said, if it was well supported in the van then I am sure it will be fine.  Worth every penny though.

Good to see another Scot on the FOG.

Talking of Scottish accents, I spent four years at Edinburgh University, and on my very first day in the city I asked a tramp in Teviot Square for directions. I didn't understand a word of his reply, so I said "Pardon?" He repeated himself, I still didn't get it, so I said thanks and walked off. The man had the broadest Highland accent you could imagine.

Coincidentally, on my last day at university, I happened across the same tramp, said hi to him, he said something back which even after four years in Scotland I couldn't pick up.

It was probably a cross between something unpleasant about English students and a request for money!

Welcome Sean!  I won't have any trouble with your accent on here.  I used to listen to Jackie Stewart.  [big grin]
